Tip of the day

Physical contact exercise (checking ears, teeth, gums, toes, pads, legs, tail and body) should be done daily to get your dogs used to being handled by you, your vet and a groomer if needed. If your pup growls, rather than saying no, Take a step back and start over gently with a reward or toy by the pups mouth. Saying no to a growl can teach your pup never to growl and rather just to bite 1st.

A growl is a warning to say that they are uncomfortable, unsure or not liking the situation
Never punish a growl, rather take a step back to evaluate the situation and see why they are growling and go from there.

Teach your pets the best way to communicate with you, if you take their communication away by punishing a growl, you are telling them to try something else and that something else is most likely going to be a nip.

Have a good day all🐢

If your puppy or dog is acting up, don't punish them but rather take a step back and think why... are they bored, confused or frustrated... they will find something to do to keep them occupied, most likely something that you don't like so why not take a few seconds to give them something more appropriate to do

Teaching your dog/ puppy should be fun for you and your dog. Your dog will do anything to please you no matter how old they are, although you should start training before the age of 4months to mold your dogs future behaviour.... They are always willing to work and learn. Teach them something new and see their smile when they get it right. Training improves your relationship between you and your dog. Always be patient, consistent and see what works for your dog. There is no point in forcing an animal do to something you don't want them to.
