As the Uitsig chapter comes to a close here is another Happy Tail from Diane about her dog Esme!

This is what Diane had to say: "As far as I know she was in rescue for 7years.
Was 7/8 years old when we got her.
She was scared to go out the gate & people & dogs.
She'd lie in corners & look at the wall or cupboard.
So glad she loved me from the beginning. Took at least a year to like my husband.
Now her & i walk on the beach 2 to 3 x a day. Loves people & other dogs.
❤ PS. If we go on holiday to friends who have dogs Esme goes along as well. She loves travelling in the car"

It is great to see one of the Uitsig doggies living their best lives. If you have an Uitsig doggie Happy Tail please contact me so we can celebrate these wins.

This lovely girl had a litter of 14 puppies more than 6 weeks ago. Unfortunately one of the babies passed shortly after birth but this girl and the amazing foster haven looked after 13 fat healthy puppies.

Gaby has had her last litter and now it ia time for her to find her forever home. Gaby does not like cats or horses bit dogs and humans are great! She loves attention and deserves the very best home.

Please help by liking, sharing and commenting so we can get this mommy her own parents.

Shaun's Happy Ending!

Shaun's life had been a harrowing ordeal, a constant cycle of neglect and abuse under the care of an owner who clearly didn't deserve him. Regularly exposed to danger, he bore the scars of dog attacks and the emotional trauma of his owner's drunken rages and hurled bricks. The breaking point came during a fierce December storm, when a frantic call from a concerned neighbor revealed the owner's intent to end Shaun's life. Driven by a desperate urgency, Shaun's rescuer drove through the storm's fury to reach him, finding him terrified but thankfully compliant, readily jumping into the safety of her car. He was taken to her home and was cared for until they shared his photograph on social media. Soon after, a wonderful family reached out, expressing their desire to meet Shaun. The introduction with their dog and cats went smoothly, Shaun displaying a gentle and adaptable nature that won their hearts. Today, Shaun's story is one of redemption and joy. He's found his forever home with a loving family, showering affection on their young daughter and basking in the comfort and security he so desperately craved. He now lives a life of luxury, a world away from the fear and cruelty of his past, a testament to the transformative power of love and compassion.

Happy Tails - Our Success Stories

This is an update on Cooper! He sure is a happy pup! This is what his family had to say:

We met Cooper on 27 December 2021.

He was very shy at first. Staying in one room for 3 days. Then he became more trusting and was watching TV with great enthusiasm. He still loves the couch and cuddles a lot with dad.

He's an absolute treasure and plays with big sister Domina occasionally. 😉

Our son returned from UK after 5.5 years and he takes Cooper out for twice daily walks.

Cooper is so much part of our family. He is no trouble at all and we all adore him!! ❤

We call him Super-duper Cooperbooper
And Cooper the soft and Cooper the brave.

🚨 BREAKING NEWS: MAN CLAIMING TO BE CHAIRPERSON OF MITCHELLS PLAIN CPF FOUND GUILTY OF CRUELTY TO ANIMALS 🚨

⚖️ In a significant court ruling on 25 October 2024, Alan Thorne, who claimed to be the Chairperson of Mitchell’s Plain Community Policing Forum (CPF), was found guilty of two counts of animal cruelty under the Animals Protection Act, 1962. Wearing a CPF jacket, Thorne faced justice in a courtroom where he was sentenced to either pay a fine of R6,000 or serve 12 months in prison.

❗ With thanks to the Mitchells Plain Sub-District Community Police Board, we were alerted to an error in our previous press statement. We will always strive for transparency and accuracy in our reporting and we have amended our statement accordingly.

Despite multiple warnings from the Cape of Good Hope SPCA’s Inspector Jeffrey Mfini, Thorne continued to keep his German Shepherd in dire conditions—chained amid rubble, without water, and severely malnourished. The Magistrate expressed dismay at Thorne’s disregard for the dog’s welfare and his failure to set a positive example for the community. As a result, Thorne has also been declared unfit to own animals for two years.

This case sends a strong message: animal cruelty will not be tolerated, regardless of one’s position. The Cape of Good Hope SPCA extends thanks to the state prosecutors and all involved for advocating for animal welfare, and we stand firm in our commitment to protect vulnerable animals across our community.

Helping to save a life
One week to help Koa

Met him and he is wonderful

**🐾 Meet Koa: Our Big, Boy in Need of His Furever or Foster Home 🐾**

Koa is a large, active pup who has so much potential to be the *good boy* we know he can be – he just needs the right doggy companion to show him the way. Ideally, a strong, patient dog lady around 3 or 4 years old who can teach him a thing or two about life.

Koa craves love and attention, and he’s eager to learn. He's excellent on a leash and barely pulls at all. In fact, he’s so focused on walking that he simply ignores distractions around him—no barking, no fussing, just peaceful strolls by your side.

We haven’t tested him with cats yet, but we believe Koa could make it work with a confident feline friend who can stand their ground. Koa would thrive in a home with a yard where he can stretch his legs and burn off some energy. But be warned: this boy can jump! A yard with high fences is a must.

Koa is ready for the next chapter of his life, whether it’s in a foster home or with a forever family.

Please share Koa's story and help him find the home he's been dreaming of. If you're interested in meeting Koa or know someone who might be, reach out today!

**📩 Contact Sammi on 082 926 8160 for more details and let’s give Koa the happy ending he deserves!**
