✨ LOST BUT NEVER FORGOTTEN ✨

Yesterday, we picked up a stray Husky from the dump in Atlantis. He was tired, hungry and searching for something… or someone. We brought him to safety for the night, where he could rest at Mayanna’s in a warm kennel until morning.

Today, we scanned him for a microchip — and miraculously, he had one. 🙏 We quickly contacted The Village Vet, who helped us trace his family. Within 30 minutes, we were speaking to his mom.

What we learned next left us speechless…

His name is Major. He was stolen from their property in 2022.
For three long years, his family had no idea where he was — only hope and heartbreak. Until yesterday, when fate (and maybe a little dogged determination) brought him to the right humans.

The reunion? Pure magic. 🥹 You can watch the video in the comments to see Major recognise his mom in an instant — tail wagging, howling with joy. He never forgot her.

This is why we microchip.
It’s a small step that can change everything. Please, if your dog isn’t chipped — do it. You never know when you might need it.

Major is now home, safe and loved — just where he belongs.

🚨 A Tough Morning at Take the Lead Training - doggo attack🚨

This morning during a training session with Khodi, we faced an unexpected and serious situation. About 500m from his home, a German Shepherd (Sky) came around the corner with terrified, aggressive body language. Despite my best efforts to intervene quickly, Sky managed to get her teeth on Khodi, leaving him with bite scratches on his head, ears, and legs.

Once I separated the dogs, I had to step into the road to stop traffic and get assistance—handling two power breeds is no easy task. Sadly, this wasn’t the end of it—Sky also charged at another woman’s dog, and while she managed to pick up her dog, she was bitten on the hand and required a tetanus shot.

💔 This was my first proper attack in three years since starting Take the Lead Training, and while we’re incredibly lucky there were no major injuries, the emotional and physical impact is real. I’m especially concerned about Khodi’s progress, as he’s working hard on his reactivity—and incidents like this can undo weeks of training.

🔴 A Serious Reminder for All Dog Owners:
If your dog has a bite history, this is not a “fixable” situation—it’s a manageable one. Here are a few steps to ensure everyone’s safety:

✅ Secure Your Property: Use a double-gate system to prevent accidental escapes.
✅ Proper Gear: Ensure your dog wears a well-fitted muzzle if they pose a risk in public.
✅ Stay Alert: When out walking, pay attention to your surroundings—put your phone away and watch for potential triggers.
✅ Leash Responsibility: Never let a reactive or aggressive dog off-lead in public spaces.

We all share the world—let’s work together to keep it safe for humans and animals.
