Have you ever gone for a walk with your dog where he has behaved so badly that you’ve come home embarrassed, ashamed and feeling judged by everyone you met? Or actually being judged and criticised by them? I’m pretty certain we’ve all had that experience with at least one of our dogs. I know I have, and wow, do I have some stories! Drop a comment below, with a pic of the culprit and tell me some of your experiences

Does having complete freedom really benefit our dogs or are we causing them unintended stress? Security means so much more than a beautiful home, the best food, water and lots of love. We only truly feel secure when we know exactly what the rules are and what is expected of us, and the same is true for dogs. (Now, I don’t like the word rules, it brings to mind various authority figures I’d prefer to forget. If anyone has a better word, I’d love to hear it.)
I can’t imagine starting a new job, where I am greeted warmly, offered tea and cookies, then left to my own devices, not knowing where my office is, where the restrooms are, or even being given a job description.
Or going to stay with a friend who says “Welcome, make yourself at home!” and then doesn’t tell me where to park my car, put my bags, or which bedroom or bathroom I shall be using.
Some people may be quite comfortable with that, but I certainly wouldn’t. I’d love to hear your thoughts
