My dog Kalisi went missing around 6pm this evening and hasn't been sighted anywhere.

This happened along the farms near Philippi.

She managed to get out of the gate which is still a mystery. :(

She is sterilised and microchipped.

A reward will be offered for her safe return. 🙏

Meet Jack – A Loyal Heart in Need of a Forever Home❤️❤️

Jack is a beautiful, purebred long-legged Russell Terrier, around three years old, with a story that will touch your heart.

He and his sister were the beloved companions of an elderly man in Lambert’s Bay. Tragically, their owner suffered a heart attack and was not found for ten days. During that heartbreaking time, Jack and his sister remained by his side, huddled together in loyalty and love until help arrived.😭

Jack’s sister has since been adopted by a retired couple with another Jack Russell, and she’s thriving. Now, it’s Jack’s turn to find his happy ending.

Jack went to a foster-to-adopt home where he bonded beautifully with the other dog, but sadly, it wasn’t the right match—his foster mom worked full days, and Jack was left alone. He missed companionship so much that he howled from loneliness. Jack is a deeply affectionate boy who just wants to cuddle, be loved, and have someone nearby.

What Jack Needs:

A home where someone is around most of the day—retired individuals or someone who works from home would be ideal.

A secure, loving environment with lots of affection.

A companion dog would be a bonus, but not essential if he gets plenty of attention. Otherwise he is great with other dogs .

Jack is incredibly loving, loyal, and gentle. He’s not just looking for a house—he’s looking for a heart to call home.

🐾 Meet Kiki – Our Tuxedo Sweetheart! 🐾❤️

This stunning little lady is Kiki, a 4-month-old bundle of love in a tuxedo coat. 💫 When she was rescued, she was a wild little firecracker, but with time, love, and care, she’s blossomed into the softest, most affectionate kitty.❤️❤️❤️

Kiki is still a little shy around new people, but give her some patience (and treats and tickles 😻) and she’ll be your biggest fan in no time. She absolutely adores other cats – you’ll often find her plopping down in front of them, hoping for a groom or cuddle session.😻

The best part? When Kiki chooses to curl up on your lap and stares up at you with her big, loving eyes while purring like a little engine – it’s pure magic. 🥰

Kiki would thrive in a calm, loving home with other friendly cats. She’s ready to bring joy, affection, and plenty of purrs to her forever family.

Tessa Update – A Brave Soul Facing a New Battle😢

We wanted to share an important update on our beautiful Tessa, who has been through so much as a cut throat and TVT and continues to fight with incredible courage.

After undergoing four rounds of chemotherapy for TVT (Transmissible Venereal Tumour) and been sterilised , Tessa was given the all-clear by her vet – the tumour had completely disappeared. With this wonderful news, we brought her down to Cape Town in hopes of finding her the loving foster or forever home she truly deserves.❤️

Just a week into her foster care, Tessa began to bleed unexpectedly. Her foster parents acted quickly and took her to the vet, where further testing revealed an alarming issue – Tessa had no detectable blood platelets. The veterinary team immediately started her on a high dose of cortisone and antibiotics to stabilise her, and at her next visit, we were relieved to learn that her platelet count had started to improve.❤️

Sadly, this past Friday, we received heartbreaking news: Tessa had started bleeding again. Upon examination, the vets discovered that her TVT tumour had returned and was now larger. She remains on medication and cortisone, and we are doing everything possible to support her recovery.❤️

Tessa’s new doggy companion in foster care misses their playful times together, and her foster family is giving her all the love and care she needs. We remain hopeful and committed to helping her through this setback.❤️❤️❤️

To everyone who donated towards Tessa’s care – thank you. Your kindness is making it possible for her to continue receiving the vet treatments she needs.🙏

A Bittersweet Goodbye to Our Beloved Dot (Tannie Dot) 😭❤️

It’s with heavy hearts and immense gratitude that we say farewell to our incredible Field Manager in Vredenburg, known and loved by all as Ouma or Tannie Dot. After 14 years of unwavering dedication, she has officially retired — although our hearts are still trying to catch up with the reality of her absence.

Six months ago, she gently let us know it was time for her to step back. But even with all that notice, nothing could truly prepare us for her last day this past Friday. We honestly didn’t want to face it. How do we even begin to imagine LEAPS without her?

Dot wasn’t just a Field Manager — she was the heartbeat of Vredenburg . The animals trusted her implicitly. They felt her energy, her love, her calm presence, and they knew they were safe. Her faithful little car, always packed with food, leads, and crates, worked tirelessly alongside her — heading to the vet, loading up rescues, or setting up spayathons, pop-up days, and inoculation and deworming drives.

Her impact reached every dusty street, every backyard, every neglected pet in need. The town knew her, not just as a rescuer, but as family — someone who showed up, every single time, no matter the heartbreak, the challenge, or the weather.

As we write this with tears and full hearts, we are overwhelmed — not only with how much she’ll be missed, but with deep appreciation for everything she has done. Without her, so many animals would have continued to suffer.

From all of us at LEAPS, and from every wagging tail and grateful set of eyes — thank you, Dot . Thank you for 14 unforgettable years. For your courage. Your compassion. Your strength. And for carrying the weight of so many voiceless souls with such grace.❤️

We don’t quite know how we’ll manage without you — and we know Vredenburg's animals will feel your absence just as deeply — but we wish you peace, rest, and joy in this next chapter of your life.❤️
