National Dog Day was founded in 2004 by Pet&Family Lifestyle Expert and Animal Advocate in 2004. she is alsothe founder of National Puppy Day,National Mutt Day and National Cat Day.The Reason that this specific date was chosen as its the date that her family adopted their first shelter dog when she was 10 years old. It is the only day that celebrates all dog whether they are pure bred or mixed.

The mission of dog day is to help the public realize just how many dogs need to be rescued each year. It also recognizes family dogs and your working dogs that help save lives. National Dog Day is also against any kind of Breed ban. Dogs shouldn't be punished because of situations that they are forced into.

So human friends, Remember on Wednesday to adopt a furry 4 legged friend into your home!
