This Sunday, 8 June is World Ocean Day - Most of us don't really understand the impact that we have on the ocean on a daily basis.
World Oceans Day is important because it gives the world, a global community, the opportunity to celebrate our oceans which contribute to our ecosystems and our lives. 70% of our earth is occupied by oceans. The world's oceans provide us with drinking water and oxygen.

Yesterday, an elephant seal found its way off the beach and into a suburb near Gordon’s Bay.

Following an incredible coordinated effort from the City of Cape Town, SPCA, Two Oceans Aquarium, SA Polar Research Institute and other individuals, the seal was successfully loaded onto a wildlife transport trailer and released safely onto a beach where he was very grateful to return to the water.

We are open from 8am to receive any donations for our brave fire fighters. We will deliver donated goods at around 3pm to the nearest drop off point. They have enough food, water and fruit for now but are in desperate need of more medicated items as listed. Thank you and we wish the very best of luck to our amazing fire fighting team!
