Our Story
Beaded is an online shop offering ethically handcrafted collars for your much loved four legged friends. Our collars are handcrafted from high quality genuine leather and beaded by local artisans in rural Kenya. These beautiful bright designs are eye-catching with long-lasting colours because, unlike other collars, the beads won't fade. We use fishing line to sew the beads on to the leather, making the beadwork very durable and water resistant.
This style of beadwork is all done by hand which is a timely process, it is an incredible skill. For hundreds of years the Maasai people have been using beadwork to embody their culture. Beaded jewellery is used as everyday adornment to represent wealth, beauty, strength, warrior-hood, marital status, social status, and other important cultural elements. We are now bringing this culture to you and your homes in the form of a bright and colourful collar for your much loved pets.
Our goal is to empower these local artisans with as many opportunities as we can and at the same time celebrating their unique skills.
