Sometimes, we just sit with our heads in our handsโฆ asking, โHow can someone be this cruel?โ
Surviโs story is one of heartbreak โ but also of hope.
We received a call about a dog left tied up in a narrow alleyway between houses. When we arrived, we found Surviโฆ tied so tightly, his entire head was swollen as if he had been stung by a swarm of bees. The rope had cut into his neck in such a way that his lymph glands were completely blocked, causing his head to balloon with fluid.
๐ ๐๐ ๐ฌ๐๐จ ๐๐ฃ ๐๐๐ค๐ฃ๐ฎ. ๐๐ ๐๐ค๐ช๐ก๐๐ฃโ๐ฉ ๐๐ง๐ฎ. ๐๐ ๐๐ค๐ช๐ก๐๐ฃโ๐ฉ ๐ข๐ค๐ซ๐. ๐๐ ๐๐ช๐จ๐ฉ ๐๐ฃ๐๐ช๐ง๐๐.
With the gentlest of hands, Uncle John carefully untied Survi, speaking softly to him, easing him into the car, and bringing him straight to safety โ to us at Brakpan SPCA.
But we needed answers. We needed help. So we took Survi to our trusted friends at Sherwood Gardens Animal Hospital.
The rope had done some damage. His neck was raw with wounds, his body was emaciated, and in desperation, Survi had been eating stones and debris off the ground. A day or two more like this, and his fate would have been sealed.
But Survi is a fighter. ๐ช๐พ
With proper treatment, good food, and a whole lot of love, our doctors believe this brave little soul, just 11 months old, will make a full recovery. In fact, after just one day in care, the swelling in his face has gone down, and his eyes have begun to sparkle again.
Survi will be under close observation for the next week or so โ ensuring his neck wounds heal and that no blockages from the stones occur. Once he's cleared, we can't wait to put him on our adoption roll. Because Survi deserves a forever home filled with love, not cruelty.
But this is not just Survi's story. It's the story of so many others out thereโฆ waiting, suffering, needing us.
We NEED to be there for them.
