As the colder months settle in, many dogs start feeling the effects of winter โ especially senior dogs, active dogs, and pets with previous injuries or joint issues. You may notice your dog moving slower, struggling to get up, seeming stiff after resting, or being less excited to play and exercise.
Cold weather can make aches and pains feel worse, just like it does for us humans. ๐

Provide warm bedding away from drafts and cold floors. Blankets, raised beds, and jackets can help smaller, short-haired, or older dogs stay cozy.

Even though itโs cold, regular light exercise helps keep joints mobile and muscles strong. Short walks, stretching, balance work, and gentle enrichment activities are great options.

For sport and active dogs, warming up before training or exercise is very important during winter months to help prevent injuries and stiffness.

Limping, stiffness, slower movement, reluctance to jump, or changes in behaviour can all be signs your dog may need extra support.

Canine conditioning, body awareness exercises, massage, enrichment, and strengthening work can all help improve comfort, mobility, and confidence during colder weather.
