The Power of the Bucket – A Cautionary Tale
One must never assume that horse feed has no importance.
The power that horse feed — and carrots — possess is a force to be reckoned with.
It was a quiet, warm day when all of a sudden…
The silence shattered into hollow sounds of laughter waiting to be born.
Jade had decided, entirely on her own, that the only way to get Queen Highway into her house was to lure her with the ultimate weapon…
FOOD.
Dum dum dum 🎶
As Jade shook the bucket to catch her attention, Queen Highway’s sensors activated immediately. Full flight mode.
Her head shot up.
Ears forward.
Eyes locked on the target.
The Bucket.
Dum dum dum 🎶
The chase was on.
Jade knew where she had to go. She just knew she had to get there quickly. She marched forward with determination — walking as if she had a chappie stuck between her cheeks. The walk became a brisk trot. The trot became a run.
Time — and survival — were of the essence.
As Jade glanced over her shoulder, she saw Queen Highway steaming towards her like a freight train with hooves. The mission could not be compromised. The bucket had to be protected at all costs.
Dum Dum Dummmm 🎶
Eyes forward. Focus on the stable. The target was in sight.
Unfortunately… in that split second of turning her head to check the distance between herself and impending doom… Jade failed to notice the wash bay pole directly ahead.
With the accuracy of a bowling ball aiming for a strike, Jade’s head connected with the pole in spectacular fashion. Her body folded horizontally with the elegance of a well-timed Olympic gymnast — easily scoring a solid 98%.
Magnificent form. Questionable strategy.
Needless to say, Queen Highway was unimpressed.
She stopped abruptly. Head lowered. Staring at the now half-moon-shaped human on the ground. Horse feed scattered everywhere. Jade sprawled in defeat.
And the bucket?
Ten glorious, unreachable meters away.
Dum dum dum 🎶
Mission failed.
However…
The echoes of laughter coming from the south side of the property were undeniably priceless.
Conclusion:
Never underestimate the power of The Bucket.
It has the ability to transform an ordinary person into an Olympic-level gymnast in under three seconds.
And that, ladies is the true power of horse feed.
