PITOE IS GOING HOME!! 🐾

After spending a number of weeks with us while receiving treatment for a wound on his abdomen, we are SO happy to say that this sweet boy is finally all healed and ready to go home 🏡

It has been such a pleasure caring for him and watching his wound heal day by day, and we’re absolutely thrilled to see him heading home to his family where he belongs ♥️

But just when we thought our day couldn’t get any sweeter… his owners arrived to fetch him with the most thoughtful surprise!

They brought us these adorable handmade cupcakes, each one decorated with a little cat face! What an incredibly kind and thoughtful gesture 🥹🐾

Thank you for trusting us with your precious boy and for thinking of our team in such a sweet way 🧁

Now it’s time for lots of cuddles, spoiling and a very happy homecoming!

🚨 Tick Bite Fever in Winter? Yes, it happens!

We recently treated a case of Babesiosis (Tick Bite Fever) here at the clinic. While often seen as a summer disease, ticks don’t fully take the winter off in Gauteng!

Here’s what you need to know:
🦠 What is it? A serious blood infection caused by Babesia parasites, transmitted by a single tick bite. It destroys red blood cells and can be life-threatening.
🚩 Signs to watch for: Extreme lethargy, loss of appetite, pale/yellow gums, fever, or dark urine.
💊 Why year-round prevention matters: Warmer winter days keep ticks active. Pausing treatment in winter leaves your dog exposed

Dior woke up today and could actually smell the coffee 😋☕️

We recently performed BOAS surgery on a lovely Frenchie patient, and it was an instant breath of fresh air!
If you love flat-faced breeds (Frenchies, Pugs, Bulldogs, Pekes etc), here’s what you need to know about BOAS (Brachycephalic Obstructive Airway Syndrome):
💨 What is it? Squishy faces often come with narrow airways - specifically stenotic nares (pinched nostrils) and excess tissue in the throat blocking airflow.
🚩 The Risk: It makes breathing hard work, causes loud snoring, and makes these dogs extremely prone to heatstroke since they can't pant effectively.
✂️ How surgery helps: We gave our recent patient a quick "nose job" by widening the nostrils and trimming the soft palate in the throat to open up the airway.

Now, our brave patient can breathe freely, sleep comfortably, and enjoy life so much more 🐶❤️
