Shiba Rescue of New England Shiba Rescue of New England is a small group of dedicated families living in New England who work to save neglected, unwanted and displaced Shibas.

Shiba Inu Rescue of New England, is a registered and approved 501c3 in MA, serving Shibas throughout New England. We offer rescue, fostering, assessment, counseling, transport, quarantine referral and permanent placement via qualified adoption for Shiba Inus. Our sincerest goal is the preservation, education, and understanding of this special, delicate breed of dog, the Shiba Inu.

HAPPY NEWS: KONA IS ADOPTED! Kona is very much loved as you can tell by the photos! He is doing great with his new fur sister, Teva (She needs a little more time getting used to him, but he’s fine with her!).  Henry, Heather and their son Cole, say that he is such a “love bug”!  Thank you very much to Holly who fostered him and gave him heaps of walks in the woods and on the beach to get ready for his new home -something he had not been able to enjoy in many years. Happy life, Kona! You hit the jackpot!

PENDING MEET UP! ATHENA-Available for ADOPTION! Athena is three years old and she is currently in Quincy MA.  She is good with other Shibas and can be selective about other dogs (the video is from when she was a puppy playing with another Shiba).
She’s very good with humans but doesn’t want other dogs around her food and that’s nothing new!
She is very playful and we don’t know how she is with cats. She is being rehomed because the owner may be going to a woman’s shelter and has no family to otherwise send her to. If you’d like to consider Athena please complete an adoption application found on our website for immediate consideration.

FINLEY flying in style this morning to his new home in New Jersey! Finley is 1 1/2 years old, the PERFECT rare Shiba who loves all breeds of dogs, people of any age, and cats, and no food or toy aggression. He will be living in a home with Taylor, her husband and 2 other Shiba’s! More to come on his story soon! Thank you to Pilot Pablo for stepping up for this flight in his elegant plane. And Thank you to new foster Shamira who held him for a few days and added enrichment to his visit.

BEAN! Available for Adoption. 5 years old- he’s really fun to have around, he’s playful and good spirited. He’s good with cats. He might chase them, but he won’t hurt them. He is living with four other Shibas right now, so he’s fine with other Shibas so long as everyone is fed separately, which is nothing new. He will be arriving on June 8 to the New England/New York area. Please submit an application found on the website for prompt consideration!

Kona is ADOPTED!!! HE IS A GEM!!! Some fresh photos of Kona today ! He has immediately bonded with the two Shiba girls where he’s being fostered with Holly. He is a very sweet, gentle gentleman. KONA, 11 years old and had a recent neuter surgery, and bounced back really quickly! Loves his outside walking adventures, good on the leash, plenty of energy. He’s with our Foster Holly down on the outer Cape now and he’s enjoying walks on the beach with her two Shiba girls. While we were told that he is not good with other dogs, that’s not necessarily the case at all! He's excellent with girl Shibas so we believe he'd be good with other female dogs or beta males. He is “a love bug.”, “very cuddly” , and a unicorn! Good with cats.
He would be great as a first Shiba. NO ADOPTION FEE!

PENDING! FOR ADOPTION: KAWASAKI! Saki is estimated to by 4 yrs old, found as a stray in Baltimore. Currently being fostered in eastern PA with Angelise. He’s living with two other dogs, one of which is a Shiba and he gets along great with both of them.
He was good when exposed to a child of 10 years old. Saki really loves to be outside and can spend hours playing outside. He loves to give kisses and loves to cuddle. He’s really a love bug! We feel that he is a puppy at heart and needs a a little guidance on some basic commands that he probably didn’t get as a puppy. He is a little skittish with loud noises and quick movements. He has not been tested with cats. He is housebroken and he is neutered. Ideal home would be with at least one other dog that he can learn from and have playtime with!  Please complete an application found on our website or consideration anywhere in the Northeast or mid Atlantic states.

WOO HOO!!! CYN MARIE SAW THE POST AND ADOPTED! COURTESY POST FOR OUR FRIENDS AT CONNECTICUT HUMANE SOCIETY: 2 yr old 40lb Shiba mix girl, KOKO, surrendered by family due to moving. She is very nervous in the shelter so they'd like to find a rescue org or adopter ASAP. We don't handle mixes, but can help move her by this post. She gets along with other dogs just fine. Please contact East Windsor ACO at 860-292-8240. Potentially free spay if you are a CT resident.
