STOLEN. BORROWED. BASTARDIZED.
And yes, I mean exactly what that sounds like.
I'm excited to announce that I'll be returning to The Canine Conference for my third year as a speaker!
On November 8th, Day 2, I'll be presenting Stolen, Borrowed, and Bastardized: The Making of Service Dog Development, representing Paradox Dogs and Two Dogs Diverged.
Here's the thing: service dog training didn't invent obedience, detection, behavior modification, or most of the principles we use every day.
We borrowed them.
And there's absolutely nothing wrong with that.
But somewhere along the way, we started copying applications without always understanding the principles that made them work in the first place.
That's what we're going to challenge.
While service dog development is my case study, this presentation isn't just for service dog trainers.
It's for trainers, groomers, rescue professionals, rehabilitation specialists, working-dog enthusiasts, and anyone curious enough to learn from a discipline outside their own.
My goal isn't for you to leave knowing how to develop a service dog.
It's for you to leave knowing how to take something you've learned and make it useful in your own corner of the canine world.
💡 Take the concept.
⚙️ Find the principle.
🔎 Understand the mechanism.
↗️ Manipulate the application.
Because some of the most valuable things you'll ever learn about dogs might come from someone who does something completely different from you.
