After 12 giving us years of unconditional love, a constant smile and incomparable companionship, Suzie crossed the Rainbow Bridge on 7th January, leaving us with hearts shattered into a million pieces and an enormous beagle-shaped hole in our lives.
Together, we almost completed the Wainwrights. Just 5 summits - 2 final walks - short of the 214, and we would certainly have done them if Covid hadn’t brought us to a screeching halt. But the memories of the most special little girl, and her love for our mountain adventures, will live on for ever in our memories and our hearts.
Thank you for following her page and encouraging us both every step of the way. The final Wainwrights will remain unconquered - it was ‘our thing’ and to do them without her is unthinkable.
Sleep tight my beautiful girl. We’ll love you forever 💔🌈

I’m back!
Continuing our Wainwrights revisited, mum and I recently went for a nice wander through Whinlatter and up to Broom Fell. Whinlatter was mad busy with people mountain biking, going ape and generally milling around - staycations are definitely a big thing this year... But just 15 minutes away from the car park and main activity areas, we hardly saw a soul!
It’s always a lovely walk along the forest tracks and, popping out onto the ridge, we even got a bit of sunshine. Nothing much to report - a little soggy in places but a straightforward walk.
On the way back down, I jumped in a boggy ditch, arooood loudly at a rabbit and also spotted a red squirrel which was very cute. Mum says I’m a menace 🐶❤️

Ha - we’re on a roll! It’s a bit showery today and she’s still waiting for the Sky man to arrive, so I’ve got mum back on the case...
Two small, straightforward fells that we did not long after we were released from lockdown prison, as part of mum’s plan to get-fell-fit again. First time round we did them both individually so, to do them together, feels like we’ve made a lot of progress, despite being mostly sat on our saggy bottoms for the previous couple of months!
So, Sale and Ling Fells in the north - easy paths and great views for not a lot of effort. Two more missing summit selfies in the bag 🐶☺️

I’ve had a word with mum as she keeps taking me on walks, but has been massively neglectful in actually writing them up - so I’ve refused to do anthing more until she’s caught up 😜
So, here’s another missing summit-selfie Wainwright-revisited... gorgeous Gowbarrow. It’s just down the road from us and one that we’ve already been up several times, so the plan was to find yet another alternative route! Mum spotted a sneaky sign on a gate at Ulcat Row so we gave it a go and it was, indeed a different way up.
With hindsight, it would have been better to do it the other way round, as it meant we descended on the steep rocky steps, which were also wet because it decided to rain on our way down. So mum did quite a lot of shouting at me to stop and wait as it was slippery and apparently she can’t run down like I can... but, she survived, and we have the photo evidence to prove it!
We have several more summits to tell you about - and hopefully it won’t take her quite as long to post the next update - so watch this space 🐶😄

Well friends, as the weather is ‘grim ooop north’ today, I’ve encouraged mum to update on our recent Wainwrights revisited.
First up is lovely Catbells... deservedly popular, often underestimated but always worth the effort. It’s a reasonably short but steep ascent up the nose with some fun scrambly sections and all-round breathtaking views! We like to go up the steep way but, for variety in our ‘revisiteds’, mum’s been looking for alternative options and this time we descended towards Little Town for a change. It meant we left the crowds behind and got to stroll back to the car on a lovely little terrace path.
It’s the first time we’ve been up since the viewfinder was built at the summit so it was interesting to see that but, with it being so busy, mum says it’s probably one that we’ll save until winter before visiting again 😂
More revisiteds to follow and, weather permitting, mum’s hopeful we’ll get to do our first ‘new’ Wainwrights very soon - watch this space! 🐶

Well, after months of warm sunshine, the easing of lockdown restrictions has seen a return to normality for the Cumbrian weather! So, as today is a total wash-out, I’ve persuaded mum to update you on some more of our Wainwrights revisited... we have four to tell you about, but first up are High Rigg and Barrow. Both local fells that we’ve done numerous times so mum decided that we’d try a different way up each for a bit of variety. No dramas - we’re staying safe and sticking to simple paths - and I’ve been alert at all times! Hope you’re all keeping well and are able to visit us up here again soon 🐶😜

Yay! I’ve been released!
With the easing of lockdown restrictions, and the ability to travel for exercise, mum has decided that in a bid to a. redeem herself for past ‘missed summit selfie’ misdemeanours and b. get match fit for the eight remaining big boys, we would get out and about again. We’ve stayed local and have just been up smaller fells with wide grassy paths that mum said would be easy for her to roll down if necessary, rather than have to call Mountain Rescue for assistance 🤦🏼‍♀️
However, we’ve managed to safely revisit three littl’uns - albeit with lots of huffing and puffing (mum, not me) - so we still have a way to go before we’re ready to finally tackle Scafell Pike 😂
Anyway, Wainwrights revisited were Little Mell Fell, Binsey and Longlands - and we have plenty more of the ‘revisit to get fit’ list so watch this space 🐶

Mum is most definitely in my bad books! We have 12 summits that have either been missed completely or have been documented in such a cavalier fashion that you’d barely know we’d been there... and another five that are severely lacking in decent summit selfies (i.e. summit photos without me in them - so really, what’s the point of that 🐶😜?). Luckily they’re mostly the smaller, easier ones and are all quite close to home - so that’s our fitness regime sorted, post lockdown. Ironically, some of them we do quite regularly so I have no idea how mum missed them!
Anyway, by way of compensation, here’s a write up of Great Mell Fell - it’s our closest and most frequently visited Wainwright and one that mum realised she’d missed writing about last year but, despite having taken some photos, hadn’t got around to sharing them. Honestly, you can’t get the staff nowadays 😂🐶
Stay alert and well my friends ❤️

17/05/2020

Oops, it appears that mum was a bit remiss in my earliest ‘summit selfies’ and I have quite a few missing! So, she’s been making a list of those that need to be revisited once we’re allowed back on the fells... given that we’ll need to build up our fitness again before tackling our final eight, I think I can guess what’s coming so watch this space 🐶😂

Hello everyone, I hope you're all keeping well with this bad virus thingy? Mum and I have been practising social distancing on our walks from home but it's tough not being able to get up on the fells in this amazing weather... Still, they'll still be there once we've been unleashed - can't wait! Meanwhile, keep safe friends 🐶❤
