Convention was great, nice easy drive, awesome friends and a comfortable condo to stay in. Here's my only rant: if you raise a chocolate variety in any breed you know how hard it is to get a nice prime coat with great color. Raising chocolates is truly a love hate relationship. They are the last to finish condition and the first to blow coat. 🙄 ugh!! So when a very "burnt" or rusty chocolate with ears you can drive a truck through the middle places higher in a class than your chocolate with perfect ears & color, you wonder WTH? When the SOP clearly states 15 pts for ears, 10 pts color and 10 pts for fur, you begin to wonder what the judge is looking at. I finally had to walk away from the judging table and look at a currant SOP. What am I missing? When I got home, I began reading the new SOP and discovered there are no faults for color in Polish (except for lilac). We know where this is going next, right? What other breeds have chocolate variety and do they list faults for poor color. To my surprise some do and some don't. The Lops color guide lists faults for all colors as well as the AFL's and Mini Rex. Dutch list no faults for chocolate but they do for other colors. 🤔 If we put 10 points on color, then why don't we have faults on color? I know body type is everything but when 35 pts are thrown away like a dirty tissue, it really hits nerve at convention. 🐰
