Lately, it feels like every day brings another disappointment. People schedule meet-and-greets and never show up. Others message us, eager to adopt, showering our posts with enthusiasm… and then vanish without a word.
Meanwhile, the dogs—some of whom have been in the shelter for months, even years—wait. And wait. They sit in kennels day after day, watching other dogs leave while they’re passed over again and again. Imagine being locked in a cage with only brief breaks for fresh air, sunlight or affection. That’s not a life. That’s a sentence.
This crisis isn’t easing up. There are too many dogs and not nearly enough fosters or adopters. Backyard breeding hasn’t slowed down, and now even puppies are being overlooked. It’s almost impossible to find fosters, even for the tiniest, most vulnerable lives.
It’s exhausting. It’s overwhelming. And it’s absolutely heartbreaking.
Something has to change—but we can’t do this alone.
You can help.
• Volunteer at your local shelter. Give a dog a break from the kennel. Walk them. Sit with them. Remind them that not all people give up.
• Foster. It’s temporary, but it’s life-changing. A foster home gives a dog a real chance—a soft place to land, a chance to decompress, and a shot at finding the right forever home.
• Show up. We are desperate for volunteers who are committed and reliable. The dogs count on us being there. If you can give just two hours a week, please reach out.
This work is hard, but it’s worth it. Every walk. Every belly rub. Every tail wag from a dog who finally starts to believe that they matter.
If you’re ready to be the difference for a dog who’s been let down too many times, please message our page. And even if you can’t help directly—please keep sharing our posts. You never know who might see the one dog that speaks to their heart.
