Mr. Colby, a shy orange and white 15-year-old, came to us last year after his owner passed away. Used to one person and in one home for most of his life, Mr. Colby took some time to settle in and find his place at June’s. He’s even started watching TV on the couch with his foster at night.
But at our first vet appointment of the year (for vaccines and going outside the litter box), we learned that Mr. Colby has a mass in his abdomen.
Our vet believes Mr. Colby has about 3 months left, and we plan to make that the best 3 months possible. This wasn’t how we wanted to start our year, but we will make sure Mr. Colby has warm beds, TV nights, treats, and sunny spots. This is the hardest part of what we do, but it’s central to our mission.
At June’s, we're grateful to be able to provide senior cats like Mr. Colby love and comfort in their golden years, and that includes hospice care. This is why we do what we do: to ensure that every senior cat—whether they’re with us for years, months, or only days—has dignity, softness, and love at the end of their life.
