💜Pet cancer awareness💜

This is a picture of Cancer Mast cells under a microscope here in the clinic.

Cancer affects 1 in 4 dogs and 1-5 cats at a similar diagnosis rate to humans.
Masts can appear anywhere on the body, and often look like raised red bumps or ulcerated swollen growths. Rapid swelling/shrinking can occur due to histamine release.
Severity can range from Grades I~III Grade I: high survival rate, well differentiated and often curable via surgery.
Grade II: moderate swelling and or shrinking of the affected area, requiring careful observation and management.
Grade III: highly aggressive, higher fatality rate, often requiring additional treatment such as chemotherapy.

Contact your Veterinarian immediately if you find any concerning lumps or bumps! Especially those that rapidly change in size.
Treatments are complete surgical removal of the tumor and or chemotherapy if tumor has spread or cannot be fully removed.
Early diagnosis is key! many low grade tumors are curable with prompt intervention.

‼️Rattlesnake Bite‼️
With weather temp rising in the gorge keep an eye out for rattlesnakes in your area and contact your vet immediately for treatment if any of your pets or livestock have been bit.
Rattlesnakes are extremely venomous, and untreated bites can be fatal or cause irreversible damage to your pets health.

Introducing Noodle! 🐶❤️
The brave, curious dog who got a little to close for comfort yesterday. He had been bitten on the end of his snout while at home, less than an hour after the incident Noodle became swollen and painful prompting his dedicated owners to bring him in for necessary treatment and get him home safe!

Big thanks to Noodle’s family and our amazing team for their dedication and commitment🫶🐾

Spring is in session!
🌸🌼🌸🌼🌸🌼🌸Don’t forget to scratch the itch off your next visit.
Flea and tick problems increase during this time of year so be sure to treat your pets regularly as needed for protection against flea and tick infestations.
We are now offering Bravecto Quantum! A prescription-only, veterinarian administered, annual flea and tick injection for dogs and puppies 6 months+ this product has successfully made its way through Canada, and the UK and has been a safe, effective product overall. Call and ask your vet about Bravecto Quantum for your Dogs!

Alongside fleas and ticks, Allergies are another main source of the “itchy behavior”
If your pet is experiencing allergy symptoms: excessive licking or chewing, pawing at face, red/inflamed skin (particularly around chest, belly, armpits, groin, and face) “scooting”, and sneezing, talk to your veterinarian about how to manage symptoms via prescriptions or, injectable cytopoint therapy.

🌷🐾Stop the sneezing to smell the flowers! 🐾🌷

🐮‼️Fair is coming‼️🐷
And our team is handing out tips for the season to help the kids get ready for those big blue ribbons!💙

Dr. Shoufler & Dr. Enwards
Gave an outstanding presentation on the importance of healthy diet, vaccinations, and common disqualifying conditions to look out for when preparing show animals

Contact your Vet if you notice any of these conditions arise :
•Cows:
-Ringworm, Warts

•Pigs:
-skin conditions
( greasy pig disease, lice, mange)

•Goats/Sheep:
-oral lesions(mouth ulcers)

•Poultry(chickens/turkeys)
-bumble foot

Our doctors say these are some of the most common issues in 4H patients and recommend consultation if you have any concerns.

Contact our office for any questions or assistance you might need and good luck! 😊

This week our wonderful staff had the privilege to attend the Western States Veterinary Conference alongside 10,000 other veterinarians!

Dr. Mike Foss, Dr. Zachary Shoufler, and our practice managers, Leah and Sharon, are aiming to expand our knowledge and technology by attending lectures regarding pain management, anesthesia, kidney function, and the use of h**p for medicinal properties in pets.

What a fantastic opportunity for us to learn more about how we can improve our practice and patient care!

This Valentine’s Day is all about how much we love love LOVE our patients so here are some heart facts and tips to help you keep your pets heart healthy and yours at peace❤️

Did you know… 10% of canines and 15% of felines are affected by heart disease?
Key signs can include: rapid or labored breaths (under 35 breaths per min) lethargy, coughing and spontaneous collapse (fainting)
Genetic factors have been the leading cause of heart problems in cats, whereas valve disease (degeneration/ loss of heart valve function over time) has been the leading cause of heart problem in dogs.
Dr. Shoufler says weight control, regular exercise, and yearly evaluations by your veterinary care provider to detect murmurs and arrhythmias are the best precautions to take for your pets heart health.

Happy (and healthy) Hearts Day!!💕💝💌🐶🐱
