We also operate a Forever Foster “sanctuary” program where dogs may live out their natural lives, if adoption is not possible due to age, health, or behavior. We are headquartered in South East Michigan and our dogs are fostered in private homes across the US. We currently adopt within the continental US (subject to applicable regulations for the import of dogs) and offer free transport by air (in cabin) or road to most out-of-state adopters. All but one of the 1776 crew are groomed. None of that stinky winky look of neglect around here.

For those new to us, Brody Turner is an AKC-registered Lhasa Apso with a spicy temperament who has been with us since 2019. He reminds that FM of her nephew rescue Lhasa, Bruno, who was just as much of a handful. She has a soft spot for the good bad boys because they deserve a chance too.

Keegan Turner is another cutie in our care who is busy learning the basic skills he will need for a happy life in his future adoptive home.

He is being socialized with adults, older children, cats, and dogs. So far, Keegan has shown himself to be friendly with both men and women, a respectful 10-year-old boy, and the indoor cats in his foster home. He gets along with the dogs in the household for the most part, though he will not hesitate to "speak up" when he feels it is needed. Keegan naturally gravitates toward the younger pups and sometimes plays a bit rough. He warms up to respectful dogs he meets outside, regardless of their size.

Keegan is a 2-year-old Shichon with a spicy little disposition who does not like to be hurried. He is easy to manage when one takes the time to communicate with him gently and respectfully.

Keegan is not yet adoptable, but we invite you to follow his journey with us so you will be among the first to know when he becomes available.

Rescue, for us, is not about quick matches. We work with the underdogs – the ones who need time, patience, and healing before they are ready for forever homes.

That is why what you see here is not a "shopping list" of dogs. It is the story of each journey, shared so you can really understand who they are becoming.

The people who stay with us, follow along, and grow to know our dogs are the ones who end up with the most successful adoptions. They see the work, the progress, and the spirit behind each pup.

❓️ Q: Where is your rescue located?
A: We are registered and headquartered in Michigan, but our dogs are fostered across the country. We are fully foster-based, do not have a physical shelter, and are run entirely by volunteers.

❓️ Q: Can dogs be adopted outside Michigan?
A: Yes. Most of our dogs are adoptable anywhere in the contiguous United States. While we prefer in-person adoptions, we can arrange free in-cabin air transport to most major U.S. airports, or road transport.

Some exceptions apply. For example, if a state has extensive red tape or requires special registration, we may ask adopters from that state to adopt in person. If a dog must remain local to their foster home, that information is noted in their adoption bio.

❓️ Q: Can I meet a dog before adopting?
A: We do not offer Meet-and-Greets during the initial application process. However, once someone becomes an approved applicant ready to adopt, we can help organize a Meet-and-Greet with potential dog matches close to the dogs' foster home.

❓️ Q: Why do you require veterinary records as part of your application process?
A: Veterinary records help us find the best-fit placements for our dogs by providing an objective view of an applicant's pet care history. These records give us valuable insight into how well a home might suit one of our rescue dogs. We welcome applicants who use both traditional veterinary care and proven alternative or holistic approaches to pet health.

🐾 About Them
Griana (white tuft of hair) and Gaela were born in rescue after their mom, Gwen, a Shih Tzu or Lhasa mix, was taken in while pregnant. They were part of a litter of four and are now the last two remaining, ready for their next adventure.

🐾 Health and Vetting
Griana and Gaela are spayed, fully vetted, and up to date on all routine care, including age-appropriate vaccines, bloodwork, f***l testing, and everything in between to ensure a strong, healthy start in life.

🐾 Personalities
✨ Griana is the spark. With her mischievous streak and high puppy energy, she is always up to something and keeps life lively.

✨ Gaela is the calmer soul. She is a cuddly little girl who loves being close, enjoys affection, and plays at a gentler pace.

🐾 Their Next Chapter
Griana and Gaela spent their initial days as part of a lively group of nine rescue puppies from two litters. After all their friends and littermates were adopted, the sisters became very close. As they grow older, they are now discovering more independence and exploring their own personalities.

While we would love to see them continue their journey together, we are also open to separate forever homes where each can thrive.

🐾 Location
They are currently in Camden, South Carolina, and our preference is for adopters to pick them up there, or in and around Charlotte, North Carolina.

➡️ For qualified adopters who live reasonably close to a major airport served by a major US airline, free in-cabin air transport of the furbabies is available.

🐾 Application Process
We welcome applications from loving individuals with a history of responsible pet ownership and verifiable veterinary records, who will continue to cherish and nurture Griana and Gaela.

🌈 In Loving Memory of Wolfie 🌈

We pay homage today to Wolfie, who passed away from age-related causes, on August 29, 2025. Wolfie was the beloved brother of our Angel Barkley in his former family, and because his Mom stayed in touch with us about Barkley, we were blessed to follow Wolfie’s journey too.

His Mom shared, "Wolfie had been abused by his first family and was surrendered as a result. When he came to us, he immediately bonded with me (his new mommy) and Barkley. He loved to play with Barkley as much as possible, and the two of them often played tug of war together—it was so cute! If Wolfie was not playing, he was either snuggling with Barkley or with me. He was a big snuggler."

Run free, sweet Wolfie. You are reunited with Barkley now. Both of you were such good boys, deeply loved and forever missed. 🕊️

ADOPTION Pupdate – Cooper and Aidan Turner

Super Duper Cooper (Yorkie Tzu) and Aidan (CavaTzu), along with their sweet Bichon brother, Bentley, form the handsome ABC Trio, as that FM fondly calls them. 💚☘️

Now thriving in North Carolina, the boys enjoy walks, family time, and beach vacations with their Mom, Jamie, and Dad, Anthony. Their journeys prior to rescue were not always easy.

Cooper, about 8, began life in Northern Michigan, where his first family kept this tiny pup outdoors. Later adopted by another family, he still struggled in a home with grandchildren.

Aidan, about 7, came from a pet store in Twelve Oaks Mall in Novi, MI. After his dad passed away, he could not adjust to life with his human sister’s family and acted out from stress and grief.

Both boys needed the right environment to feel safe, and they found it when Jamie and Anthony opened their home and hearts. Cooper was adopted in 2020 and Aidan in 2023.

Today, Cooper and Aidan are cherished, spoiled, and finally living the stable, joyful life they deserve.

Thank you, Jamie and Anthony, for giving our spicy boys their “Happily Ever After.”
