ned, displaced, or otherwise homeless, fluffy, small-breed dogs, primarily Shih Tzu and Lhasa Apsos. We also operate a Forever Foster “sanctuary” program where dogs may live out their natural lives, if adoption is not possible due to age, health, or behavior. We are headquartered in South East Michigan and our dogs are fostered in private homes across the US. We currently adopt within the continental US (subject to applicable regulations for the import of dogs) and offer free transport by air (in cabin) or road to most out-of-state adopters. Did you know that Rían Miller-Turner speaks and understands French? 🇫🇷

This tiny boy is doing just fine. He may be small, but he is mighty. He even put his paw on that FM's personal dog, who is twice his size and usually quite grumpy, to tell him to back off.

After barely eating during his first six days at the rescue, he now enjoys his meals that are topped with fresh protein to keep his urine acidic and help prevent struvite stone formation. We make sure he drinks plenty of water, too.

His anxiety episodes are now few and far between, limited to when that FM goes out, and even then, not always.

Our little man has found his place among the 1776 crew. The organized chaos at the C is his kind of chaos: lots of belly rubs, lots of ear scratches, lots of chats in French, lots of love, lots of play, lots of noise, lots of good eats, lots of friends.

I admit that my heart feels like it has been ripped out of my chest. The losses never get easier. I happen to also know first-hand how Millie Audra Ranger's Mom, Dad and extended family are feeling right now. 💔

Her sudden passing brought back the painful memory of my Rollins Angleton, who was taken from us in such a similar way – quick, unexpected, and unfair.

Run free, little Millie Audra Ranger. You were always so sassy, so stubborn, so perfectly you. You and my Kian Montgomery have met again at the Rainbow Bridge. 🕊️🌈💚

End of Watch Millie W., formerly Audra Ranger 💔

With a heavy heart, we share that our Audra Ranger passed away suddenly and far too soon yesterday.

Audra’s journey with us began in December 2018 when she was found as a stray in Canton, Michigan. She arrived in rescue matted to the skin, tired, and worn out from a hard life we would never fully know. In March 2019, after receiving all the vet care and love she needed to recover, Audra was adopted by a wonderful family in Florida who gave her the best life she could ever have dreamed of.

It was clear that Audra was ready to be found that cold morning. In those first days, she slept like a log, recovering from the exhaustion of surviving alone. Once she felt safe, her sweet and sassy spirit emerged. Audra was tiny, just six or seven pounds, but she had a spunky personality that lit up every room she entered.

Yesterday, she developed sudden sepsis that led to acute kidney failure. It progressed quickly despite aggressive medical intervention.

To her Mom, Dad, and extended family, thank you for loving her so deeply and completely, for giving her the forever she had always deserved.

To our sweet girl, you will find your brothers, many cousins and rescue friends waiting for you at the Rainbow Bridge. Love and light to you, little one. We will meet you there some day. 🕊️🌈💚

☘️ Our Dogs Need You Now More Than Ever 💚

The dogs you see here are not just faces. They are lives that almost did not make it.

Many come to us as their last resort and their only lifeline. Without our rescue, they would not be here today. They need extra time, extra care, and extra love that few are able to give. We open our hearts because every single one deserves a real chance.

Like many charities in the current economy, we are doing more with less. The cost of food, medicine, and vet care keeps rising while donations slow down. We have cut what we can, but we will never cut corners on the care these dogs need to heal and find hope.

Our fosters carry more than ever on their shoulders. Intake is closed for now to protect those already here, but the needs do not stop coming. Every day we stretch our resources to make sure no bowl is empty and no dog goes without care.

Your gift is not just money. It is full bellies, safe beds, medicine, and second chances. No amount is too small. Every bit helps keep these dogs alive and loved until they find families of their own. 💚

☘️ Weight Loss Journey of Carraig South-Carolina, a morbidly obese mini Australian Shepherd in rescue ☘️

After his recent bladder stone surgery, sweet Carraig, our morbidly obese mini Aussie, developed an infection that made recovery more challenging, but a drain was placed which helped him heal faster. He is now back on track with his weight loss journey. 💚☘️

Thanks to the incredible care and dedication of his FM Nicole, and the guidance and support from a veterinary nutritionist, Carraig is moving safely toward his goal weight of 16 to 18 pounds. He is down to about 34 pounds now from 38.8 pounds, even with minimal activity while his incision healed.

We are so grateful to FM Nicole and everyone who has stepped up with generous donated medical services, including Dr. Yeates and Rescued in SC, to give Carraig this chance at a healthier, more comfortable life. Every small step forward is possible because of their care and kindness.

Puppy Pup-Date – Grady South-Carolina 💚☘️

Grady, one of the four Gwennettes, is now Jasper and living his best life with Mom Carol and Dad Randy in Florida. He is a lively little boy, energetic, playful, and just happy all around. By the way, he is the puppy with the alternating horizontal black and white stripes (see photo).

Observing him and his littermates, we can see that they all enjoy life, play hard, and rest hard.

Here is what Carol, his Mom, says:

"Jasper is a very precious addition to our family! He loves to love and be loved!!
He loves everyone, and zoomies and playing with his toys are his favorite things!
He and his Pekingese brothers are still a work in progress!! He is a puppy and loves to play! Cappy and Alfie are much older and laid back! But, they are working it out! You can tell they love one another!
He has been to the Vet and gotten his final puppy shots and will be neutered in September!
He has been to the groomer twice! We took him the second time to have him cut a little shorter! His fur was to thick and long!
One of Jasper’s favorite things is going “bye bye”!
We have been blessed with the best! Our Jasper!"

It makes our hearts so happy to see Jasper so loved and right where he belongs. 💚
