Cane Rosso Rescue 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to raising funds and building awareness for homeless dogs

The goal of Cane Rosso Rescue is to find homes for dogs who have been abandoned at shelters or whose owners who can no longer care for them. We are looking for fosters, adopters and volunteers who can help transport dogs to their homes. Donations are needed to pay for medical care and other expenses and can be made via PayPal at [email protected].

English Pointer alert! Foster home needed! We want to save his life!

💔He’s scheduled for euthanasia on Friday because the finders can’t keep him any longer

This guy found himself homeless, no collar, no microchip and no one looking for him. Same story, different day, he was dumped and someone shrugged off whatever responsibility they had for him onto someone else.

He’s been great in the home at foster and awesome with their kids, but they cannot continue to keep him and are out of options. This is rescue, euthanasia of adoptable dogs because shelters and homes are now full too.

⏰So….our clock is ticking to find this guy a foster home asap and save his life. Let’s do our thing and save Pete!

🥲These puppies are siblings who landed at a shelter. That’s no place for any dog, let alone babies, so let’s help them!

They are 3 month old mutt mixes, maybe some hound or Pointer in there, and they need foster homes secured so they can start living a proper home life, not growing up in shelter one. They can go to separate homes.

Meet Henry – Big dog, big love! He is cuddly, RELAXED & MELLOW…what more could you want???

Henry is a grown-ass man dog with his life together—no potty training disasters, no leash-chewing chaos, no “we’re still working on it” excuses. This guy shows up with zero drama, all love, and a whole lot of cuddle skills. We have nothing but good things to say about this senior gentleman… because honestly, he’s perfect.

Henry came to us from a small, overcrowded shelter where we knew dogs like him often sit for months—sometimes forever—without a second glance. At 7 years old and a big guy, he’s not the fluffy little puppy everyone’s lining up for, and his chances of being noticed were slim. When the call came asking if we had room, a kind-hearted foster said “yes,” and that’s when his second chance truly began.

Since then, Henry’s been the perfect foster houseguest. He’s sweet, snuggly, well-mannered, and loves being near his people. He’s good with cats and dogs. If you’re looking for a calm, relaxed companion who’s always down to chill—Henry’s your guy.

He recently got the chance to try swimming… and politely declined. He’s more “lounging poolside” than “diving in.”

Alright, seriously… why do we still have Alex?

Maybe it’s that whole “black dog syndrome” thing—yes, it’s real. And it’s ridiculous. Because Alex is amazing and deserves his forever home!

This boy sat in the shelter for six months, quietly waiting his turn, while being the actual best dog the whole time. And yet… here he is. Still waiting.

Sure, he’s a little shy and nervous with new things—who isn’t? He’s learning, like any new dog does. But give him a minute, and you’ll get the real Alex: all love, all day, stuck-to-your-side cuddles that you can’t live without.

Foster found! This guy will be available for adoption soon! Stay tuned…

🆘Atlas is on an urgent list and we want to help! We need a foster for him ASAP! Urgent means at risk of euthanasia, as shelters are overcrowded and cannot handle the dogs coming in.

He is undersocialized and doesn’t know how to “dog”, but we can save his life if someone can take him in and teach him and show him life is good.

Backstory:
He was purchased from a breeder in Missouri as a puppy, Christmas present for dad.
Adult child ended up taking care of Atlas. Adult child is moving to college and can not afford to take Atlas with him.

He has not shared a home with another pet but he has been to dog parks. He is a nervous boy, tail tucked during people or dog introductions, but no signs of aggression at all.
His body score is a 3/9… he is very skinny and needs to gain some weight.

What we know so far:

Distemper. Distemper is here again and we are faced with the agony of two rescue dogs diagnosed with it. Our entire animal community is suffering from this distemper outbreak and we at Cane Rosso Rescue are no different.

We just lived this nightmare — we just lost a young puppy to this disease. Now, two more tiny lives are fighting this same cruel disease. We desperately need your help to keep them going and fight this with them.

Maple and Molly are sisters we chose to save about three weeks ago and give a second chance at life. Not knowing this was just the beginning of a very large distemper outbreak, we thought we were treating a cold, then pneumonia….but they didn’t get better. Then the email came…. Multiple dogs in our local shelter testing positive for distemper, where they had been. Our stomach dropped and our hearts sank. It couldn’t be. Not again. But here we are.

Now, we have to fight for them because they’re just babies. They deserve a chance, isn’t that the whole point of rescue? Fight. Try and try again. Second chances. We are committed to them and we will do everything we can to help them.

💔This virus is relentless. It attacks their bodies, steals their strength, and ravages their neurological systems. And yet… Maple and Molly keep fighting. It is so clear they want to live.

We can’t let them fight alone and we will support them as long as we can. Their ONLY chance is constant, continuous supportive medical care — and we are asking, pleading for donations to help us provide this care to Maple and Molly.

Still waiting……No home for Lucy… yet. 💔

We wish we were sharing a “She’s adopted!” celebration post, but Lucy is still waiting. Still hoping. Still searching for that one person who understands that some dogs simply need more time, patience, and compassion.

Lucy has worked so hard in training and made incredible progress. She’s smart, dog-friendly, crate trained, and has the sweetest, goofiest side once you earn her trust. But meeting new people is tough for her, and because of that, she keeps getting overlooked.

Some dogs just need someone willing to see past the first impression — to see the dog she really is inside.

We know her perfect person is out there — someone who sees her potential, who doesn’t expect instant perfection, and who’s ready to give her the love and stability she needs.

Yep… we found another dog. Because apparently, the “someone else will help him” person is always us. Charlie was wandering as a stray, and while we’re thrilled he’s safe now, we’re also out of room, out of hands, and out of fosters for keeping him. He needs his own home — he’s awesome and has so much love to give

The good news? He’s ready to go. He’s neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, crate trained, and good with cats and loves to play with other dogs. He’d LOVE another dog friend in the home!

Charlie is a gentle, loving guy who just wants a soft place to land and a person to love him. We’ve done our part getting him ready — now we just need someone to step up and be his forever person.

Dumped. Let go. Who knows, but his people didn’t care enough to take care of him.

💔Eddie was found injured and scared under an abandoned house in a bit of rough shape. Well…what we thought was rough shape. He has a broken pelvis… that’s healing really well…. and a list of other things going on as a result of being hit by a car.

What does this mean? It means we are looking for that unicorn adopter who can help him live a comfortable life and give him the extra TLC he needs and deserves. He’s going to require a bit more than a regular dog, but we know someone out there with a big heart and a lot of love to give will make this amazing guy feel son happy and loved.

Eddie is a Pointer through and through. He points birds all over and was pointing chickens at the finder’s house. He is NOT cat friendly. Again… he’s a bird dog… we are thinking he may have been a trained hunting dog but we can’t verify for sure.

This guy is so sweet and so loving and we’re thrilled to help find him a forever home to love and care for him. He’s been great at both his foster homes, is very relaxed and seemed to just go with the flow.
