Hi All, unfortunately we only just found out about the KiwiRail Bridge 92 work this morning, but we have had an update from WBOPDC Cycleways Manager Scott Parker.
KiwiRail are aware of the high community use of the walkway and will endeavour to keep access open under the bridge as much as possible, however there will be times when this is not possible as they have to replace or strengthen some of the aged timber bridge structure.
Last time they had to do this they were in and out pretty quickly, so hopefully this time will be the same. Please be patient and mindful of your personal safety.

Three new seats have been added to what is referred to as 'Gael's ' Corner ( Gael Blaymires ) by the Te Ara Kahikatea Pathway Society. Member Pete Boomen poured the concrete and placed the seats several weeks ago. This is going to be a lovely shady summer spot with Elders planted in a semi circle. Thanks Pete

It's just over 10 years ago that Cedric and Gael Blaymires presented the idea of this walkway/cycleway close to Te Puke's CBD in the public forum of Te Puke Community Board. I was a Member of the Board at the time and was immediately inspired by the concept. We took steps to assemble a community group to progress the project.
The story of how the walkway came into being is told through the pictures here. A few of us have been involved from the start, including: - Gael Blaymires, myself, Richard Crawford (Past Chair and current Te Puke Community Board Chair) and Michael Jones (current Treasurer). Others have joined along the way bringing their own considerable skills to bear on the project. These include: - Geoff Brann, Graham Malaquin, Peter Boomen, Selwyn Mawkes, Caroline Boyle (current Deputy Chair), James Trevelyan (current Chairman), John Fowler and Mike Rudduck. Notable mention also to past members: - Cedric Blaymires (first Treasurer), Julian Fitter (first Chair), Ken Keyte (first Deputy Chair), Rob Fraser, Lisa Stowell (designed our logo), TUi Atkinson, William & Judith Litchfield, Rachel Brodie and many others who have helped over the years on working bees, etc.
