Feel Good Fri-YAY!

Our Pet Family Housing Initiative continues to receive assistance requests from pet families across Mass and CT. This week, Kane's coordinated a visit with our furrends at Dakin Humane Society Pet Health Center for Freddy. This handsome boy's hooman is a veteran and they are unhoused. Freddy received his vaccinations, flea/tick treatment, an ear cytology, ear cleaner and prednisone for his itchy skin. Nathan contributed $100 and Kane's sponsored the remaining $274.82.

Kane's has also provided guidance regarding emotional support animals and will provide a C.A.R.E. Kit if needed. In the future, we are setting up some dog training as well. A veteran's organization has been providing a motel room, but that arrangement runs out in a week and a half. Nathan has been approved for a housing voucher, but there will be a gap.

If you'd like to help us extend Nathan and Freddy's motel stay to keep them safe, please make a donation in their name to the Pet Family Housing Initiative. We can't think of a better way to thank Nathan for his service. Thank you for helping us keep pet families together!

Kane's Krusade is designed to provide solutions to the common situations causing surrender. Did you know that we provide dog training? This service is especially helpful for those enrolled in our Pet Family Housing Initiative.

We have worked with a fantastic dog trainer for several years. Kristin offers virtual training sessions as well as in-person when location allows. Effective dog training can make all the difference in keeping a dog with the family.

Kristin has had several training sessions with this handsome boy over the past two years. He had a refresher to work on a couple of things and this is what his hooman shared, "Lucky's feeling much more confident today after learning some new things from Kristin. I was able to implement them during my partial hospitalization today. I don't know how to express how much I appreciate your help with him and the gratitude I have for Kane's working with me. I wouldn't have him anymore if it wasn't for this organization. Kane's has been life saving and changing for not only me but him too. We both definitely appreciate it."

This is why we Krusade!

Happy Tongue Out Tuesday, Krusaders!

Thanks to you, Peanut will be feeling much better! This 8 year old cutie had dental surgery today and at least one tooth pulled. But he'll be smiling again soon! Kane's sponsored $600 and Peanut's hooman Brandi contributed the remaining $151.23. Brandi is a student and currently unemployed. Peanut received the care he needed because of your donations! Thank you for helping us keep loved dogs with their furever families!

Feel Good Fri-YAY!

Kane's has been working with this pet family since last year when someone drove through their living room and they had to find a new place to live. Kizer (left) and Maxx's hooman Amy has experienced a lot of tragedy, including losing her husband recently. LIfe is daunting right now, but thanks to our Pet Family Housing Initiative, one thing Amy doesn't have to worry about are her dogs. This week, your donations shipped two large bags of dry food, treats and a box of marrow bones to Kizer and Maxx. Knowing your dogs are happy and provided for is a big relief. Thank you for helping us keep loved dogs with their furever families.

Thanks To You!

Pablo is an 11 year old Shih tzu living with his disabled hooman in eastern MA. Pablo had a growth in his left ear that needed biopsy and removal. Thanks to our generous Krusaders, Kane's sponsored $519 of his surgery. His hooman contributed $245. We love working with our furrends at Tufts at Tech Community Veterinary Clinic. Because of their wonderful program and referral, Kane's assisted this pet family. Together, we accomplish so much more!

Feel Good Fri-YAY!

Thanks to our Krusaders, we are providing safety and comfort to a pet family living in their car with no air conditioning. Roo and her hooman Stacy were referred to Kane's from her health provider (isn't that pawsome?) They fled a dangerous living situation and only had their car. Stacy is disabled, living with several serious conditions.

Working with Stacy and the nurse coordinating her care, Kane's sent Roo a C.A.R.E. package of food and treats. We then found a dog friendly motel that would work with us and we're thrilled to let you know Stacy and her 4 year old Chiweenie checked into their motel and are booked through mid week next week. We will extend as rates and funding allows. This gives Stacy time to work with local agencies for long term resources. We also sent Stacy some food and gas money.

After they checked into the room, Stacy texted, "I'm in this gorgeous room!! They have a tv! I have not watched tv in a long time!! I feel like I'm the Queen of England and you just hand this to me and it's just so beautiful and I'm so appreciative and thankful!"

Puts things into perspective, doesn't it? If you'd like to help Stacy and Roo, please donate to our Pet Family Housing Initiative. We are helping more and more unhoused pet families grapple with this affordability and housing crisis. We can't wave a magic wand, but together, we can show some kindness and compassion.

Happy National Dog Day!

The team has been hard at work in August to organize, inventory, pack and deliver custom C.A.R.E. Kits to nearly 100 dogs in the Greater Springfield area. Several new pet families have joined our food program and we got to meet some amazing dogs this past weekend!

Kane's is assisting Koby and his hooman Greg through our Pet Family Housing Initiative. They are currently unhoused and staying at a friend's place. Koby is a 16 year young elderbull - something you don't see a lot of in Springfield. It's a testament to the dedication and care Greg has given Koby his entire life. What makes this story even more pawsome is that Kane's sponsored Koby's neuter around 12 years ago. (And he's still talking to us!) BOL

Koby is having ear and allergy issues as so many pitties do. Thanks to you, Kane's is sponsoring a vet exam next week and providing transportation. Stay tuned for a pupdate.

Thank you thank you to our Krew for working so hard and to all the businesses and organizations that make our C.A.R.E. Kits possible! Eastfield Hospital For Animals, Salmon Brook Vet Hospital, Westfield Animal Shelter and Westfield Smithland Pet & Garden.

Feel Good Fri-YAY!

Meet Koko, a four year old standard golden doodle. He and his hooman were referred to Kane's from the Red Cross when they were displaced due to a fire in the eastern part of the state. Through our Pet Family Housing Initiative, we shipped three bags of food, as you can see in the photo. Although this handsome gentleman is a large breed, he prefers small kibble. Hey, we all have our preferences! At Kane's Krusade, we aim to please -- THANKS to you!

Celebrating Rocky

Today we received an emergency referral from our furrends at Tufts at Tech Community Veterinary Clinic. Rocky was drinking excessively, not eating and showing other concerning symptoms. This 12 year old elderbull is cherished by his hoomans. As part of pet family advocacy, we called many of our pawtners but no one could see Rocky today. Fortunately, as they often do, River Valley Animal Center fit Rocky in and the pet family drove from the Worcester area. Rocky's hooman recently lost her job and Kane's was her only option for helping Rocky.

Sadly, Rocky was in poor health and the decision was made to help him cross the Rainbow Bridge this afternoon. We hope the pet family is comforted knowing that Rocky did not suffer. Thanks to your support, Kane's sponsored $571.56 for euthanasia and cremation.

Our Krusaders make it possible for Kane's to be there for pet families in crisis. We do this work with you, because of you. Thank you for supporting compassion and kindness.
