This October I’m running a half marathon to raise money for MND in the UK and ALS in Canada after my sister’s diagnosis.

Running 21.1km seemed like a sensible response because apparently processing emotions normally is overrated. Up until recently, my greatest athletic achievement was successfully avoiding cardio, while sitting or lying down so this feels both meaningful and slightly irresponsible.

I don’t have a target time yet. At the moment my main goals are:

finish upright

avoid being overtaken by someone dressed as a banana

raise as much money as possible for two causes that desperately need more research and support

MND/ALS is a brutal condition that affects entire families, and I wanted to do something that felt difficult, uncomfortable, and worthwhile — even if my knees strongly disagree.

If you’re able to donate, thank you. If not, moral support, terrible running advice, and pretending any training updates are inspiring are also appreciated.

Please visit these two links, one is based in UK and the other is based in Canada.
