Reasons to be thankful...
Our good friend Brett Barker just gave us this beautiful painting he created representing what Flying Tails is all about. If you look closely, you'll see connections to our flights, and our story.
Carole and I are standing next to the plane in a beautiful mountain setting as some of the animals we've flown walk away.
Right by the plane is Mango, the little dog we rescued in Mexico and the inspiration for Flying Tails. There's a halo over his head and Brett says the light above is coming from heaven.
There are two bear cubs next, along with other animals we've flown including a bobcat and our favorite goat Patches.
At the front of the line is Stevie Licks, our current mischievous mutt, followed by our elderly and cranky black cat Bigs.
They're all walking toward the Flying Tails sign above a stream of fresh water.
Watching over all this is a Bald Eagle, one of the most emotional rescues we've done.
And peering from the airplane door is a mountain lion, an animal we have yet to fly.
We're thankful to Brett and his wife Deb for the painting and their friendship. We're thankful to be able to do what we do to save animals. We're thankful for the support we get to keep going. We're thankful to PBS for carrying our show, for the animal professionals who work so hard to care for the animals we fly, and for the volunteer pilots who donate their time and aircraft.
Special thanks to my amazing Board of Directors: Doris Duncan, Lou Rivas, Shirley Zindler and Geoffrey Peters.
And of course, Carole.
We hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving. Give your animal companion a special hug from me. 🙂
Happy Thanksgiving!
