This is the mountain lion we flew to Trinity. We're hopeful CDFW is able to safely remove it to address residents concerns. We're ready to assist if the lion needs to be moved to an even more remote location.

CDFW and the Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Office are actively tracking F29, the juvenile female mountain lion reported to have preyed upon poultry and small animals in the W**d and Mount Shasta areas. The shared goal of both agencies is to protect public safety and safely capture and relocate the animal to a remote location.

After being orphaned near W**d, California, F29 was rescued, rehabilitated, fitted with a GPS collar, and released into a secluded area of the Trinity Alps in May 2026. Since the mountain lion’s release, the animal has traveled widely and has recently returned near her original home range close to Mount Shasta.

Due to F29’s recent behavior, CDFW and the Sheriff’s Office assessed F29’s risk to the public and determined that the mountain lion did not meet the legal criteria for a depredation permit to be issued by CDFW, additionally she did not pose an imminent threat to public health or safety. Instead, F29’s behavior warranted a prompt removal and relocation.

Residents in the affected areas are encouraged to closely monitor their pets and keep all animals in secure enclosures during this process.

Exchanged hats with the incredible Sherri Franklin, founder of Muttville Senior Dog Rescue. She raised the bar on how to run animal rescues and has a remarkable facility in SF.
She's kind enough to share her wisdom as I go through my journey of scaling up Flying Tails to become a national operation and First Responder for animals in crisis.
The artwork inside was done by a veterinarian who has the tough job of putting dogs down when it's time. The paintings are to honor them. It's one of the many ways Muttville puts dogs first.
I look forward to working with Muttville CEO Laurie Routhier to not only learn but help them as much as possible in getting dogs to and from their facility fast and comfortably.

A big thank you to everyone who turned out for the first Flying Tails/EAA Sonoma Skypark Airport Day.

Helicopter crews from Sonoma Sheriff and Fire Departments wowed the crowd with their show stopping landings.

The money raised helps get at-risk animals to safety and scholarships to youth interested in aviation careers.

Great food, music, airplanes and fun for everyone. Should we do it again?

Just 4 more days!
One of the things being highlighted at our Sonoma Skypark Airport Day is how the airport is part of the Sonoma County disaster response plan.
Henry 1, Sonoma Valley Fire and Police will show off their skills in times of emergency. We're also waiting to hear confirmation from the 129th Rescue Squadron based at Moffett about a Blackhawk visit.
Hope to see you Saturday on 8th St. East!
