Kindly be informed that after 5 1/2 inspiring years at Midgard, the Horseback Namibia Team and our 14 1/2 sweet horses (Cupcake counts 1/2 but dont tell her please 😎) have left Midgard stables and the lodge already last year.
As from 2 March 2025, the fun and horseback-riding continues at Farm Prospect in the Khomas Hochland; 45 scenic and easy-going minutes out of town.

Charlie Brown very badly injured himself in some very ugly razor-wires quite some time back. While healing takes long, we try to make the process bit more bearable by bringing in one of ‘his’ three favourite mares to keep him company. On Tuesday, it was pretty AliHala. He immediately calms down 🧡🐴🧡

Always happy to meet up with the giraffes. But this young one was confident and curious enough to follow us a bit. That feels bit odd and horses don’t like it at all 😎

Could it be any greener?
It possibly could …. In another part of the world ☺️
But this year‘s ‚greening‘ came out exceptionally well due to the steady rain pattern over 3 long weeks. Most amazing is that these mountains and some part of the land have been black and nothing but rocky and black or sandy and black since the heavy veltfires late last year. Miracle Nature ….. 🌈

Weather forecasts predict more rainy days soon 😍
Here is an examples of nice plaiting and braiding - ideal pastime for indoors and especially if one still needs to train a bit before it looks perfect!
Amaretto - like most horses - does not really mind and does not care about the actual hair-do at all. But well, we like to give him and the other horses some extra attention and - let‘s be honest - we like to see them pretty 😎🐴🐴

After a week of blissful and steady rain, the grass starts sprouting everywhere. Even the paddocks feature a soft green cover …. Everything appears fresh and new 💦💦

Some horsewoman or horseman or (former) ponygirl or ponyboy 🙂 might recognize the monumental horseshoe standing fairly and squarely at the center of our 'playground'. A landmark close to the lodge, it might even bring back one or the other memory .... 🐴🏆🐴🏆

Not exactly amused to find best buddies Polo and Cupcake on a leisure walk in the stable building. But the two share one stable and when Polo realized that their gate was not properly locked …. well …. opportunities dont arise every day …. off they went ….. seemingly feeling cool while greeting their fellows 🐴🐴
