If you’ve followed my journey over the years, you already know my penchant for weaving fantasy and imagination into the real-life games we play with dogs. And if you watched my Doggo or Dragon PPG webinar last year, you’re probably not surprised that I’ve created a virtual realm where we re.imagine the stories we tell of how we live and learn with doggos.
To take part in this new adventure, please come and join "Doggo or Dragon" on Patreon. It’s FREE to play :) https://www.patreon.com/doggoordragon

🐶🎂 Do you celebrate your dog’s birthday? Maybe they get a special treat or a new toy? Well, how about throwing them a proper party and playing their favorite games?
For her 1st birthday, Ugenie wanted an experience to remember. So she invited her best friends and went on an epic adventure. These four intrepid FUNdogs had a fun-filled morning hunting for magical yellow orbs, sniffing out sneaky traps and saving the friendly dragon imprisoned in the wonky castle. Snackos were enjoyed all around and much fun was had by all! ❤🐾🥎🍪🐲🦸‍♀️🐾❤

✨✨The magic of nose games! Dogs possess an incredible superpower: watch Gemma (12) and Tiffy (1 1/2) dive into the 4th dimension of scent-time to play lost & found games with their BFFs.✨✨

👶👵 Scent games are fun for young and old, big and small.
☀️🌧🌓They can be played inside, outside in small spaces, in the dark, on a walk.
💨🌫 Search games are fun at high speed or at reduced mobility.
🐽🧠 Using their nose works your dog’s brain.
🐾 And depending on where you place the thing, finding the hide can challenge your dog’s body awareness.
💪🙌 Nosework is a great confidence boost for dogs who see ghosts (aka worry) and can help dogs relax and focus who tend to see monsters (aka become overreactive).
❣️Let's play more nose games!!

🐾🎉 Check out team Millie, who just returned from their official UK Gundog Trust assessment, passing their Grade 3 with Merit!🏅Woot woot!!!

Here they are showing off their skills during one of our Fundog sessions.
If you live with a spaniel, labrador or other dog who was born to retrieve and hunt with you, but have no intention of shooting game, PLAY games instead!

Fundog games use your sporting dog’s natural abilities to track, flush and retrieve while teaching other skills humans appreciate such as focus, patience and cooperation. Win-win!

🇺🇸ENG/🇫🇷FR - We all know this from experience: just because someone gives you something they think makes you happy doesn’t mean we actually enjoy it. Disappointing b-day presents anyone?

🤩 In dog training, when we talk about positive reinforcement, we are referring to the act of providing pleasant consequences following a behavior we like, so that the behavior is strengthened (reinforced). Your dog greets you with all four feet on the floor? Yay! Here’s a cookie. Please do that again next time. And bingo, your pup stays on the floor instead of jumping on you next time she sees you, she gets a tasty cookie, and everybody is happy.

❓ But what if that’s not happening? Depending on the behavior you are trying to make stronger, handing over a cookie may not cut it. You might experience this especially with environmentally-motivated behaviors like chasing.

Every time you call your dog, they get a nice cookie. Yet, when it counts, you can stand there waving your cookie and they are still running after the deer. 😤💨 Clearly this whole positive reinforcement business isn’t working. Well…
Reinforcement is so much more than feeding cookies!

🎁 Remember that disappointing b-day present? You were really hoping for that limited edition tamagotchi but got a knit sweater instead. 😒 You’ll still like grandma, but chances are you’ll take the thing back to the store next day and use the refund to get your hands on that coveted tamagotchi. 😎

If your dog really wanted - needed - to chase in that moment, handing over a piece of food isn’t going to be reinforcing your recall. It’s disappointing at best, punishing at worst. Up your game! Figure out what makes your dog’s eyes light up. Find their tamagotchi!

✅ Here are seven tips to get you started. If you’re struggling with chase behaviors in particular and would like to sample and experiment with some tried-and-true canine tamagotchi equivalents, come join us for the Rocket Recalls workshop Special Edition for chasey and herdy types coming up next month: https://fb.me/e/38NZxEWCb

7 Ameliorez votre jeu social

ENG🇺🇸/FR🇫🇷 - ENG🇺🇸 Your dog pulls on leash? Barks at other dogs or people? Won't come when you call her? So you take her for a walk where she pulls to teach her how NOT to pull. Or let him see more dogs and people to teach him NOT to bark at them. Or practice calling her when she's running off so she will learn NOT to ignore you. 🤔
✅ When a dog is overly excited - and then pulls on leash - or is stressed and worried - and then barks at something - or is absorbed by a thing and busy - and then ignores your recall, their brain isn't in the right place to learn a new behavior.
❣️If you want to teach them what TO DO instead, create conditions that make it really easy to get it right.
💯 We all learn better when we feel calm, safe and focused.
