A Sanctuary and Rescue
We love Cocker Spaniels but will assist with others if fosters are available. Welcome to Save Our Cocker Spaniels or SOCKS!

We are a registered 501c3 organization

We don’t really have a set boundary but we are attempting to help rescue cocker spaniels from mid FL to south GA and from Jacksonville Fl through the panhandle to South Al and Southeastern MS. We still have some great foster homes in the southern part of the state so may pop up there every now and then who knows! We do adopt out of state but we are limiting

adoptions to Florida, Georgia, Southern Alabama and South East Mississippi. We do require adopters to come to Florida to meet and pick up their new family members. Our pups will not be allowed to fly cargo on any airliner. Our adoption fees:
1 year and younger- $500
13 months to 5 years - $400
6 years to 9 years - $350
10 Years and over - $250

Mission Statement: To educate cocker spaniel owners of the care, health concerns and behavioral needs of a cocker spaniel prior to their adoption. To ensure cocker spaniels in our care are placed in foster care prior to finding an appropriate loving forever home. To provide quality veterinary care to all cocker spaniels in our care. PLEASE READ BELOW:
1. SOCKS ADOPTS TO FAMILIES IN FLORIDA, GEORGIA, SOUTHERN ALABAMA AND SOUTHEASTERN MISSISSIPPI. IF YOU ARE OUT OF THE STATE OF FLORIDA YOU WOULD NEED TO TRAVEL TO FLORIDA TO COMPLETE YOUR ADOPTION.
2. WE DO CHECK VET REFERENCES AND YOUR CURRENT PETS MUST BE UP TO DATE ON VACCINATIONS, HEARTWORM TESTING AND BE ABLE TO PROVIDE PROOF OF PURCHASE OF HW PREVENTION.
3. ALL DOGS AND CATS IN YOUR HOME MUST BE SPAYED OR NEUTERED.
4. IF WE DO NOT KNOW A DOG’S HISTORY WITH CHILDREN WE WILL NOT ADOPT TO A FAMILY WITH YOUNG CHILDREN.
5. ADOPTIONS ARE NOT DONE ON A FIRST COME FIRST SERVED BASIS. WE WILL ACCEPT APPLICATIONS AND THEN SCREEN ALL AND CHOOSE THE BEST MATCH.
6. WE WILL NOT SET UP MEET AND GREETS UNTIL YOU HAVE AN APPROVED APPLICATION. TRANSPORTATION TO A MEET AND GREET IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE POTENTIAL ADOPTER.
7. ONLY APPROVED APPLICANTS WILL BE CONTACTED.

We are excited to announce the adoption of MAGGIE, now known as Misty.

Misty came to SOCKS as a breeder surrender who was coming thru Lake City on a transport and ended up staying. You could say she was high jacked. 😂

She is a 3 to-5-year-old Chinese Crested Puff. She is spunky, sweet and a really great cuddler. Misty has livened up her home with insisting the other pups there play with her.

Misty was diagnosed with Addison's disease when she had gone in to get spayed. She will be on lifetime medication and needs to be monitored closely for signs of crisis. We were lucky our wonderful veterinarian recognized the indications on her pre-surgical lab work and did additional testing to verify the diagnosis.

Thank you to Patty for fostering Misty. She was originally with Judy. She moved her when she knew she was going to foster fail. Sometimes the attraction just can’t be overcome. Three weeks later, she came home with Judy and became Drummonds little sister. Drummond has been a terrific big brother and is very patient with her antics. Her foster siblings are doing great with her as well. We look forward to hear about all your adventures.

Alum YODA is our Tongue Out Tuesday star this week. This is very appropriate since tomorrow is National Black Dog Day.

Yoda came to SOCKS three years ago. He had been a stray in Cozumel. He was neglected and attached himself to a family. They brought him to Florida. However, the location wasn’t secure. They thought he may get hit by a car.

While Yoda was with his foster family, the family went out of town. He stayed with one of our other fosters. Well…they fell in love with him. Alum Jimmy made the big announcement that Yoda was now a member of their family, complete with a pack of dogs and a cat. We call this “dog sitter failure.” 😆

Yoda enjoys going hiking with his mom just about every weekend when it’s not to hot. Mom says he travels well and loves to explore. Don’t ya just love these happily ever after stories? ❤️

SOCKS Foster Shadow at Jacksonville Veterinary Surgery and Orthopedics for her 6 week check up after her hip and leg surgery needed after being hit by a car and then now she’s ready for her spay and dental. Shadow is such a trooper and over all good girl! ❤️

Foster MARLEY had the stitches removed from his TECA surgery. He celebrated by getting a pup cup. Culver’s just happens to be right next door to the vet. 😂

His foster mom, Amie, tells us that his true personality is starting to show now that his ears aren’t hurting.
