Last minute availability before Christmas! ⏰🎄

If you’re planning to ride a bit more over the Christmas break, now is the perfect time to get your SMART Saddles checked, or to take a new one out on a two week trial to thoroughly test ride over the festive period. 🏇

I have limited 𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗺𝗶𝗻𝘂𝘁𝗲 𝗮𝘃𝗮𝗶𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 for both SMART Saddle refits and Test Ride appointments on 𝗦𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝟮𝟭𝘀𝘁 𝗗𝗲𝗰𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿, and this will be the final chance to be seen before I break for Christmas.

🚗 I will be travelling in the Exeter–Okehampton direction in the morning, with flexibility to continue anywhere across Devon and the Devon–Cornwall borders. If you’re slightly off route, still get in touch and I’ll see what I can do to still fit you in.

Today I made my annual autumn pilgrimage to Harmony Equitation for the SMART Saddles Advisor CPD training day. 🚘

I’ve been fitting SMART Saddles a little while now, and saddles in general for 10+ years, yet every time I come away feeling so inspired! Learning from others, sharing experiences, and watching the guinea pig horses in action, I always pick up something new… a fresh idea, a different perspective, or just some handy hints that help me fine-tune the way I work.

By the time I got home, my eyes were red and itchy after a hideously long drive in the heavy rain, and I was ready for bed by 8pm (nothing new there! 🙈), but I’ve had such a fabulous day. I can genuinely say that I love what I do, and I feel so grateful to be part of a community that’s always striving to do better for the horse. 🫶🏻

I think this fella 👇 stole all our hearts earlier though as the training day drew to a close and he got down to have a nap. Definitely our cue to leave! 🐴💤

Three horses: one saddle 🏇🏇🏇

This was 4-year-old Welsh Section D Bear’s very first appointment with me but it’s actually the 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙧𝙙 time I’ve refitted Xanthea’s Elite Event saddle onto a new horse for her!

𝗧𝗵𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗱𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗵𝗼𝗿𝘀𝗲𝘀, 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝘀𝗮𝗱𝗱𝗹𝗲. ✅

SMART Saddles offer a genuinely adaptive fit, able to adjust to completely different shapes without compromise to horse or saddle. There really aren’t many brands you can say that about.

Back when I worked with conventional saddles, “refitting” usually involved swapping gullet headplates and adjusting flocking to make a saddle fit a new horse (or one that had changed shape so much they may as well have been a new one 🤭😂). But is it really enough to just widen the front and lift or lower a panel? What about the rest of the horse’s frame?

That’s the difference with SMART Saddles: a fit that adapts across the whole horse, in every direction, not just the front end, and fully supports the horse’s dynamic posture.

After all, who buys a saddle to sit still on their horse? 😉

I’ve been so busy lately with new clients for Test Rides and refits for existing ones (plus small people home for the summer holidays! 🌞) that I haven’t been very consistent with posting here… which is especially bad when I also run my own equestrian-focused social media business! 🤭

But rest assured, I’m still here 🙋🏻‍♀️ and available to help with all your SMART Saddle needs across the South West. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

On Sunday, I started my day near Exeter with a Test Ride for Sasha and her two gorgeous mares, Flora and Erin. 4yo ID mare Erin, recently backed, began her ridden journey in a SMART Saddles Elite Event and has developed such a positive, uncomplicated relationship with saddling and riding. Working with so many rehab cases, it’s always heartwarming 🥰 to see youngsters like Erin set up for success from the start - a testament to both SMART Saddles and her dedicated owner.

Sasha invested in her first SMART Saddle to share between her mares, expecting Flora to wind down but Flora had other plans and is doing brilliantly since her saddle change! So, it was time for a second one - this time an Elite Dressage saddle, giving Sasha a saddle for each discipline and the flexibility to ride both mares together. 🏇🏇

The new Dressage saddle fitted both beautifully. Sasha, and especially Flora, loved the extra support compared to the open seat of their existing Event model, and it made an immediate difference to Flora’s way of going. She definitely approved!

And I have to say… of all the saddles SMART produce, the Elite Dressage is my personal fave too. 😍
