Just in time ~..to see our hard work come together with Hurricane season showing it's strength. We are steps away to keeping our promise of a better life for 7 of our rescues and hope that you can help.

We are thrilled to see our litter of 6 "Pink Tub" pups make their way stateside along with one of our longest waiting adoptable sweethearts, Charlie! The volume of planning, sacrifices and luck are beyond words to express as travel space off the island is unbelievably hard to secure. They will fly to Miami and travel up the coast via ground transportation. This is what it takes to change their lives forever and we must keep going. In our 25th year in rescue, it doesn't escape us that we are only able to do what we do because along the way animal lovers stepped up and said, I believe in you.

We've got you...
This little boy was seen hit by a truck on Sunday and the driver never slowed, never stopped. This life meant nothing, but for our volunteer who saw the entire accident, this rescue was everything! We've affectionately and appropriately named this sweet boy, Scruffy who was clearly in pain but his tail kept wagging. X-rays show that he will sadly need orthopedic surgery to his hip.

Sweet Scruffy appears to be a year old and although his body shows clear signs of complete neglect, his heart is forgiving and grateful. We will keep everyone updated on his surgery and truly appreciate any help that we can with the estimated surgery cost of $350. We look forward to giving him a better life and thank you in advance for any support you can lend.

Difficult roads can lead to beautiful destinations...

Tied to a fence and abandoned, these small victims were terrified. It didn't take long to remind them that they were safe and loved. Today, they began the next chapter of their lives thanks to our amazing Flight Angels, Jillian, Erin, and Nicole. A special thank you to our beautiful volunteer, Jeannine, who always raises her hand to make everything possible. Our hope is that their past will be forgotten, and their hopeful futures are all they see.

We also said goodbye to our sweetheart, Gizmo who was rescued from a life confined to a crate when he was freed from a hoarding situation. Wanting nothing more than to be loved, we are happy to see his future begin again.

These moments are only possible thanks to our unified efforts. We are deeply grateful to everyone who believes in our mission and supports providing hope for the islands most often forgotten.

One rescue at a time...
Hard to imagine, but the island of Puerto Rico is home to hundreds of thousands of strays; many born on the streets or abandoned when their families left the island behind. Never knowing kindness, they are born into a world where every day is uncertain.

We were happy to rescue this litter of four kittens along a mountain road this past month and are excited to see them one step closer to adoption after this mission critical sterilization surgery.

Friends,
Someone will experience losing a loved one tonight due to fireworks. The traditions of the holiday can send animals fleeing into the darkness from fear. What is meant to be a day of celebration is sadly a day of panic for wildlife and our beloved animals. These three simple steps can save us all from heartbeak.

Our newly rescued kitten had an uphill battle and sadly passed quickly through our lives in the arms of our Director, Bonnie. She was infested with intestinal coccidia, and her tiny body just simply couldn't fight any longer. We are comforted to know that she wasn't alone and knew that she was loved ~

Life on the streets is a tough way to start but we'll continue our fight to bring hope to as many as we can. Thank you to you all for your continued support, love and encouragement. www.scarpr.org

3 loads a day + one broken washer = ONE BIG PROBLEM!

We knew that this day would come. After 4 years of continued use and 2-3 loads a day, our washer finally had enough. It's a critical piece of our daily routine to keep our shelter clean and everyone healthy. Its necessity is beyond words for our four legged friends and we are grateful for any support to help cover its cost. We are 501(c)3 and all donations are tax-deductible. Our sweet little girl is doing great and slowly recovering. We are still raising funds to cover her first vet visit and are hopeful that her femur fracture will heal without the need for surgery. If you can help in any way, we are grateful ~
