As we get ready to ring in a New Year in just a few hours, we'd like to celebrate our final rescue off the island who's journey home was filled with challenges, teamwork, and a barrel full of hope. She was hit by a car just a few months ago and surrendered to our care. Although she lost her right eye, Nutmeg recovered quickly and made her way stateside this week with a tremendous amount of teamwork. As of last night, she has already found her forever home and has made a new best friend ( video in comments ) Way to go Nutmeg, enjoy your new life!

Stepping in to do our part, we raised our hands on December 5th to accept these senior Chihuahuas who had been removed for severe neglect during a police raid. Ranging in ages from 5-10 years of age, they lived in a house full of garbage with closed windows and no sunlight or fresh air...the living conditions were hard to stomach, but we have them now!

We welcome these sweethearts to Sato City where they will receive all the medical attention they need. Suffering from severe dental issues that will require surgery and cleaning. One rescue needs an immediate eye removal for severe Glaucoma. Sterilizations, vaccinations, blood work, and testing are all needed.

Giving them a chance at love and a quality of life they so richly deserve will be our ultimate goal. If you are able to help us as we wrap up the holiday, we are grateful. Every donation goes directly into their care.

All that we love deeply, becomes a part of our soul ~

We named him Wonder Dog and the name fit his courageous spirit in every way. Brought to us in 2015 at only 5 weeks of age, he was found on a busy road completely alone and totally blind, simply thrown away. Wonder Dog lived a full life, had many friends and lots of adventures as part of our Sanctuary Family. He would later find a best friend in another blind rescue, and they would become shadows of each other.

This week, we had to make the very difficult decision to let our dear friend go. His quality of life had taken a turn, and seizures had become all too frequent.

There is a void in the air at Sato City ~ forever missed, forever loved, forever family.

Fundraising Update - $2,785 raised towards our $2,250 goal!
🎉🐾 🎉🐾🎉🐾 Feeling blessed, we are so grateful.

It's here, the biggest day of giving for nonprofits like ours around the world! On this day, the silent suffering of the animals of Puerto Rico can be heard loudly and our determination to fight for their rights drives our commitment to be their voice.

Like Winston below, each rescue carries with them the struggles of the past, but our promise to help them heal drives our mission daily. Winston left the island just days ago and is well on his way to learning how big the world really is and how much love awaits him thanks to our unified efforts.

As we countdown to Giving Tuesday, we're filled with hope and enthusiasm for the work we're doing in Puerto Rico. The story of Holly, Jingle, and Snowflake – three kittens who survived against incredible odds after being found abandoned only hours after being born. It’s a testament to the impact we can have when we come together. Now, as they begin their new lives in Minnesota, we're counting on your support to help us continue our mission to save others.

The Countdown!
Giving Tuesday is just days away. A day created to bring people around the world together to honor the values of service and giving back. We're hoping that you'll remember us and our efforts to provide for the 144 rescues in our care. It's a labor of love and our needs are critical to our day-to-day survival.

This year, we are fundraising to feed our rescues through the holiday season. Our daily routine consists of dry and canned food, cooked rice in broth served with pumpkin purée. We buy food once a month as we live up in the mountains of Villalba and even simple tasks are challenging. Your donation is our lifeline to keeping our promise to protect and provide for them all.

To feed our rescues monthly takes a shocking $2,250. This need will sadly come regardless of our end fundraising results.

*Update! Everyone arrived safety to their destinations thanks many amazing animal lovers. We are still a long way from covering our transportation bill. We understand that everyone is stretch, but any amount truly helps ❤️ With our deepest gratitude ~

Today begins our long-awaited transport for EIGHT lucky rescues off the island! Among them is our three-legged sweetheart, Starr! It's been a year since her dramatic rescue at only 1.7 pounds on a mountain road. She's beaten the odds and battled her challenges like a champ; we couldn't be more excited for this amazing little girl.

Transportation off the island is extremely difficult to secure and the expenses are staggering, but it's the only option and we must find a way to fulfill our promises. We can't stress enough how each dollar goes towards creating these opportunities and achieving our mission. Our lucky eight will land in Miami by morning and take a ground transport up the coast to New Hampshire to deliver our first four and then on to Vermont for the final four. Expenses may be high, but the end result is priceless. Thank you, thank you, thank you for donating and sharing! ✈️🐾
