Today was an incredibly emotional day to finally see our most tenured rescues fly off the island thanks to our amazing friends at The Sato Project. We were honored to have four rescues on board their inaugural flight as they raised their hands to offer transport for over 150 rescues on their way to support teams across the East Coast.

Our heartfelt thanks to the dedicated volunteers at Sato Heart Rescue as they bring our lucky four one critical step closer to finding their forever families. The words "beyond capacity" continue to be our new normal, but for Di, Nike, Hope, and Elle, today is the start of their new chapter.

Here's to all the amazing things we can accomplish together🐾

She may not fit the mold of a traditional mom, but to every rescue that crosses her path, she surrounds them with love and compassion. With nurturing care, she heals their wounds, mends their hearts, and offers a sanctuary until their forever homes can be found. Her heart is joy filled when they are finally adopted and their rescue journey completed. That's the true essence of motherhood! We are thrilled to honor her on this special day, celebrating the profound love she shares for all of our four legged family members for over 26 years. Happy Mother’s Day Bonnie!

What a day full of highs and lows!
In twelve hours, we went from transporting 4 lucky rescues to one broken down van. We started our journey at 6 AM on 4 hours of sleep to see our deserving rescues make their flight off the island in search for their forever homes! A heartfelt thank you to Sato Heart Rescue and their amazing volunteers for taking over the next leg of their journey. ✈️

Highlight of the day: Meeting 11-year-old Ava, a future rescue hero who wrote to Bonnie and asked to share about her journey in rescue and what it takes. Her dream is to one day open her own shelter on the island. 🐾

After the rescues were loaded on their flight and we said goodbye to Ava, this is when our day took a turn! On the way home, our van died. After two separate tow trucks and a long, exhausting journey, we finally made it home—but our mission critical transport van is now gone after over a decade of heavy use. It's how we move our rescues, es**rt to the vet, carry critical food, and every other task that involves running a shelter on the island.

We understand that this is a tremendous hill to climb, but failing is not an option and with a shelter full of rescues, we must keep moving.

At Capacity.
These word’s have sadly lost their weight…the exhaustion feels never ending. Please help if you can.

We are seeing a pattern emerge as puppies continue to be left at our gates. Abandoned in a plastic tub and as you can see, one has her head stuck in the hole. Temperatures were already high and as we opened the tub to find 5 tiny pups all struggling to find air.

With our growing group of puppies, we need food! There are many ways to contribute and anything is appreciated.

Celebrating a beautiful moment ~
Friday night, we said goodbye to four incredible rescues as they began their journey toward a brand-new life with brighter days ahead. Each with a past filled with challenges but now, they’re on the path to the loving, forever homes they deserve, thank you to Sato Heart Rescue in New Hampshire for helping us find their perfect match.

It truly takes a village to make these moments possible. Thank you to everyone who played a part in making these dreams come true 🐾

We are heartbroken to share that these seven innocent puppies were found this week abandoned in our trash. They were left in a plastic tub with small holes in the top as they sat in the afternoon heat of the Puerto Rico sun, discarded as if their lives didn't matter.

To the person that abandoned them, you should know that the weight that our small team carries is heavy and how stretched we truly are. Your decision to walk away added a tremendous amount of pressure and impacts us all.

To give them the medical care, high-quality food, and vaccinations they need to eventually find forever homes, we need your help.

$25 covers a week of specialized puppy kibble.

Meet our LUCKY FIVE! With many rescues waiting for their day to come, we are more than ready to see five promises fulfilled. Many lives are counting on us, it's a tremendous weight off our shoulders to see even a few safely leave the island.

Transporting off the island is not only a logistical challenge, but a heavy financial lift. Air transportation, van rentals, overnight boarding, gas and tolls add up. From Puerto Rico to two of our wonderful support teams in New Hampshire and Minnesota, it will be a long journey.

We anticipate this transport to reach a minimum of $1,600 that we must fundraise to cover every step. The flight leaves Puerto Rico in just four days! Any donation will help inch us towards our goal. With our deepest gratitude ~

Beautiful Brutus ~
You came into our lives in the darkness, roaming, hiding and suffering for weeks searching for a light. We were deeply honored to be there for you.

Our sweet senior, Brutus spent the last 3 years living a life full of love and safety as part of our sanctuary family. While our hearts are broken, we are so grateful that the last chapter of his life was filled with comfort, not fear.❤️

Big News for Mia! 🐾

Our sweet girl has officially left the island and is on the ultimate adventure to find her forever home! ✈️

We want to send a massive thank you to our fabulous Flight Angels, The Maramba Family, for transporting her safely and giving her such special treatment during their journey. Mia touched down in Chicago on Tuesday and will be meeting up with Bridget from Forever Loved in MN, where her next chapter begins.

It takes a village, and we are so grateful to everyone who helped make this dream come true for her. HAPPY LIFE, SWEET MIA!
