Just in time!
Driving up the mountain, we found this mother and puppy in desperate need of rescue located at a curve on a very busy road where trash is known to be dumped. They were soaking wet and freezing. The cruelty is heartbreaking 💔

Thankfully they are now safe, dry, and warm with us now. Stay tuned for updates on their recovery. Thank you in advance for any help that you can lend towards their medical care.

Every rescue has a story filled with abandonment and neglect, but each of these stories speaks volumes about their resilience and desire for love. It's our greatest honor to give them each their second chance.

We moved quickly when we saw a window open for an opportunity to transport four of our rescues off the island. These survivors deserved this moment.

Why it matters...we can provide that safe place to heal, but it's the relocation off a severely overpopulated island that gives them hope. These transportations are lifesaving and the most critical step in delivering on our promise.

Departing in the early morning hours from Puerto Rico to Miami and then transported by van up the coast, this is a two day transport. This transport alone will run over $2,500. If you are able to donate any amount towards our efforts, we are grateful. Every donation adds up and is tax-deductible!

Mission Accomplished!
We are thrilled to share that our two sweet seniors have officially left the island and are one step closer to finding their forever homes where endless pampering will surely await them.

After spending their golden years navigating life on the streets they were gently escorted off the island by our fiercely loyal Flight Angels, Jillian and Nicky all the way to Boston where our dedicated Sato Heart volunteers welcomed them into their adoption program.

Huge thanks to everyone who donated towards their recovery and helped bring these two seniors to this moment. If you are looking to add the perfect lap dog to your family, please reach out to Sato Heart Rescue

This is what a Second Chance looks like❤️

Meet our newest rescue, Bonita. Just eight days ago, this tiny 6-week-old, 6-pound puppy was found hit by a car and covered in thousands of fleas. She was left to endure the pain and survive entirely on her own in the streets.

Against all odds, Bonita is a fighter. Her X-rays brought us a miracle—there are no fractures! However, the trauma has left her with an unsteady, wobbling walk. We are deeply hopeful that with physical therapy, she will fully recover her normal mobility.

With patience, love, and round-the-clock care, we are committed to helping her recover. Medical rehab takes a village, and Bonita needs yours.

Please donate today if you are able to assist with her therapy and veterinary care.

Feel free to SHARE Bonita’s story to help us reach more animal lovers! Thank you 🐾

Today, we are honored to join forces with The Sato Project and to continue changing lives for the rescues of Puerto Rico. Every island rescue carries with them a story of abandonment and struggle - it remains our mission to right those many wrongs and give them all the forever homes they deserve.

We are thrilled for Zuri, Goose, Zola, and for our amazingly patient Eve, who has been on our adoptable list for years with over 1K views and still no applications...we hope this opportunity will be just what she needs to find her family! Thank you to everyone who's supported us along the way and our unified efforts with the unstoppable team at The Sato Project. Today is without a doubt, a day worth celebrating 🐾

To apply to adopt these adorable pups, please reach out to the dedicated team at Sato Heart Rescue who continue to help us find the perfect homes.

Sundays with Sisco!
With his never-stop wagging tail, Sisco would like to thank the amazing team at KIPRITII for their very generous donation of colorful toys for our shelter. With so many textures to choose from, they are ALL his favorites, and we've loved watching him embrace the joy that they each unlock. On behalf of our sanctuary rescues and our adoptable pups waiting for their forever homes, thank you KIPRITII_Service

Grateful hearts ~

~ The heart of a volunteer is not measured in size, but by the depth of the commitment to make a difference ~ We can never begin to thank our heroic Flight Angels for traveling many miles, flights, and days to ensure that these two island rescues can have their Second Chance. Our heartfelt gratitude to Miranda & Eric and to the team at Forever Loved, Minnesota for helping them find their first and forever homes. 🐾

MEET SISCO! 🐾

Almost two weeks ago, a plea for help arrived at our gate. Left there was a tiny, fragile newborn puppy who was only two weeks old. Our hearts broke, we are still at capacity, but how could we not step in.

Fast forward to today, and look at this guy! Sisco now has his eyes wide open, and is already beginning his many exploring adventures.

Growing fast and ALWAYS, always hungry! In fact, he sucks so hard that he actually pushes the syringe down all by himself! Thank you Bonnie for the around the clock sacrifices of sleep! He’s growing, thriving, and will begin his journey to adoption when he’s a little older and stronger. 💕

If you’d like to support Sisco or our continued mission to provide for our over many rescues waiting their turn off the island, we are truly grateful! With the summer heat slowing our efforts, keeping everyone safe and healthy has been our battle. Anything helps 🐾

Thank you,
Second Chance Team

The hot sun beat down on us as we sat in the dirt after being seperated from our mom. Fast cars roared past us and made loud noises, we ran to the bushes to hide. Alone and hurting from hunger, we curled together and closed our eyes.

We woke to soft voices speaking to us and told us not to be afraid. We felt very scared but they gently gave us food and we slowly began to trust.

We felt brave enough and crawled out of the bushes one small step at a time. Quick hands caught us. They put us safely inside a crate and whispered that we were safe now.

In this small moment of trust, our new life began...our second chance ~

We'd like to welcome Lucy & Luna to our family! We are fundraising to begin their health protocol that will include vaccinations, testing, and sterilization. If you are able to donate, we are deeply grateful as their journey home begins.
