The hot sun beat down on us as we sat in the dirt after being seperated from our mom. Fast cars roared past us and made loud noises, we ran to the bushes to hide. Alone and hurting from hunger, we curled together and closed our eyes.

We woke to soft voices speaking to us and told us not to be afraid. We felt very scared but they gently gave us food and we slowly began to trust.

We felt brave enough and crawled out of the bushes one small step at a time. Quick hands caught us. They put us safely inside a crate and whispered that we were safe now.

In this small moment of trust, our new life began...our second chance ~

A big congratulations to little Rose who finally found her forever home! Her family is head over heels in love and we couldn’t be more excited, she’s one lucky girl! This week we heartbreakingly had to say goodbye to one of our most inspiring rescues, Cruiser. After four years of winning the hearts of everyone he meets, his delicate body said it was time to go. Cruiser was a happy-go-lucky rescue who never let his handicap of having a broken back stop him. He was always joyful in showing us just how fast his wheelchair would go as he raced to and from the front gates, we will miss him dearly.

Cruiser thrived as a member of our Second Chance sanctuary along with his best friend Medalla. Cruiser knew that he was safe and loved deeply by his Second Chance family and our hearts are full for simply having known him.

They say love leaves a mark. For us, it came this week with four legs and a wagging tail displaying a perfect heart on her side. This sleepy girl arrived at our gates in need of help. We are and have been beyond capacity for so long, but turning away this walking reminder of love was simply not going to happen.

A forever home ✈️
We want to send a heartfelt THANK YOU to our incredible Flight Angels who once again reached out to fly more Second Chance rescues safely off the island of Puerto Rico 🇵🇷

Because of their willingness to help, these two siblings are now in their forever home today! Thank you for being the ultimate bridge between rescue and a happy ending.

Join us in saying no to Fireworks!

Please help us spread the word this holiday weekend! It's natural for animals to be afraid of loud noises. The sounds trigger their nervous system which can result in anxiousness and fear. To run is their survival instinct or in many cases they cower in terror. By saying no to Fireworks, you are helping to respect the lives of animals everywhere. 🐾

Let the new adventures begin!
Last night we said goodbye to three lucky pups who had the golden ticket off the island thanks to the amazing team at The Sato Project who provided us with life saving transportation on their SATO United flight ✈️

You may recognize these adorable faces that were abandoned next to our trash in a closed plastic container months ago. Our hope is that with the help of our support team at Sato Heart Rescue that Huck, Boone & Daytona can find forever homes quickly and that their brothers and sisters can follow soon.

Thank you to all who donated towards their recovery and care that made them eligible for this unique opportunity, we are truly grateful.
