The Brandywine Valley SPCA leads the way in no-kill open admission sheltering with progressive programs and services. Founded in 1929, the BVSPCA is the first open admission shelter in Pennsylvania to achieve no-kill status and serves as the only open admission shelter in both Chester and Delaware Counties. In Delaware, the BVSPCA is the largest animal welfare organization and the only no-kill ope

n admission shelter, providing state-wide care for lost and found dogs. In 2018, the BVSPCA led Delaware to becoming the first no-kill state in the country.

📣 Clear the Shelters with Us! 📣

Join us this Saturday, 11am-5pm for the Clear the Shelters adoption event. Adoption fees will be waived on all adoptable animals on August 23 ONLY.

A nationwide initiative, Clear the Shelters has helped nearly 1.2 million pets find new homes and has raised more than $5 million for participating shelters and rescues over the past 11 years.

Adoption fees will be waived Saturday, August 23rd from 11am-5pm at the following locations:

A huge thank you to our friends at Free Range Art Studio for using our pets as inspiration during their “Crafts & Kindness” After School Art Club. Check out some of the paintings of our pets done by talented kids in grades 2-6 using coffee! These artists have the biggest hearts, and their creativity is helping make a real difference for animals in need.

Help our adoptables stay warm and dry by donating blankets, sheets, and towels. Our West Chester and New Castle Campuses currently have an urgent need, but all locations can use them. 🐾

Please drop off any linens you can spare at our donation bins outside, by our front doors, or in the lobby of the campus nearest you. 🙏

Please no comforters or pillows because our dogs love to destuff them, and we want to keep them safe!

These sweet dogs are Already At Home! 🐶 Both Cypress and Howler waited patiently to become part of loving families. Now they are living the dream where each is in their happy homes!

Thanks to a grant from VCA Animal Hospitals, when long-term dogs are adopted, they'll go home with some awesome supplies to help with a great start to a forever home! The Take Home Ready kit includes a crate, no-pull harness, leash, toys, a treat pouch, and a clicker!

HAPPY ADOPTIONS ALERT! 🎉 We had a great week at our Animal Rescue Center in Georgetown. Some extra special adoptions took place, which include Bailey and Stella. ❤️ Bailey went to the most excited young couple! They are newlyweds, recently graduated from medical school, and drove from Wilmington to adopt their "first child". We were thrilled to see Bailey fit right in with her new family. 🥰 Stella was 12 years old and lost the only owner she has ever known six weeks ago. Her new parents weren't going to adopt last week, as they're going on vacation this week. But when Stella met the mom, she was a different dog! Jumping up, bouncing around like a pup. We'll be seeing her at ESPR next week! 😊 We're all happy to see every pet in loving homes. Congratulations and thank you to ALL of our adopters this week! 🐾
