The Brandywine Valley SPCA leads the way in no-kill open admission sheltering with progressive programs and services. Founded in 1929, the BVSPCA is the first open admission shelter in Pennsylvania to achieve no-kill status and serves as the only open admission shelter in both Chester and Delaware Counties. In Delaware, the BVSPCA is the largest animal welfare organization and the only no-kill ope

n admission shelter, providing state-wide care for lost and found dogs. In 2018, the BVSPCA led Delaware to becoming the first no-kill state in the country.

At 10 years young, Lori is ready to spend her golden years exactly where she belongs: in a loving home. 🏡✨

This gentle lady came into our care after her previous owner could no longer provide the support she needed. Adjusting to shelter life can be a big change for a senior pup, but Lori has taken it all in stride, greeting everyone she meets with a kind heart and a wagging tail. ❤️

And there’s even more to love—Lori is dog friendly! 🐾 She’s hoping to find a quiet, cozy corner, a family to love, and someone who will make her next chapter her very best one.

With extreme temperatures in the forecast, we’re temporarily pausing Shelter Skip Days to keep our dogs—and our human friends—safe. We’ll be ready to play hooky again once the temperatures cool down, so stay tuned! 💙

While we wait out the heat, help keep your own furry friends cool and comfortable:

🐾 Save walks and outdoor play for the coolest parts of the day
🐾 Keep potty breaks short and sweet
🐾 Give pets plenty of fresh, cool water and access to shade
🐾 Keep pets indoors and in the A/C whenever possible
🐾 Protect paws from hot pavement, asphalt, and sand—stick to grass or use protective booties
🐾 Never leave a pet unattended in a vehicle without the A/C running
