Natural Food Remedies for Poorly Pooches
Let’s face it – even the best dogs have off days. Whether your pooch is giving you those sad eyes from the sofa or turning their nose up at dinner like a drama queen, sometimes a few natural kitchen remedies can help them bounce back.

Here are some safe, simple options that won’t have you Googling “can dogs eat…” every 30 seconds:

Boiled Chicken & Rice
The classic. Gentle on the tummy, bland (in a good way), and unlikely to offend even the fussiest of eaters. If your dog could talk, they’d say, “finally, something I can keep down.”

Plain Pumpkin (not the spiced latte kind)
A spoonful of pureed pumpkin can work wonders on both ends – whether things are moving too slowly or far too quickly. Nature’s fibre fix.

Raw Honey (just a dab!)
Soothes sore throats and mild coughs, and might even help with seasonal sniffles. Great for older dogs, but skip it for pups under 12 months – their immune systems aren’t quite ready for it.

Bone Broth
Liquid gold. Packed with nutrients and super comforting for dogs who aren’t eating much. Just don’t tell them it’s basically soup – they think it’s gourmet.

Blueberries & Plain Yogurt
Antioxidants? Yes. Probiotics? Also yes. Bonus: your dog may make questionable choices, but at least their gut health will be on point.

Important note: These are gentle remedies for mild symptoms – not a replacement for vet care. If your dog seems really unwell, don’t wait it out. Give your vet a ring.

At Pooches of Poole, we’re all about keeping tails wagging the natural way. Comment below if you know of any other good remedies we can try!!
