HAPPY NEW YEAR, EVERYONE!

2025 was a year that tested our resilience, but it also showed us the power of community and the incredible support we've got. It was unbelievably tough at times, but the love and kindness we've received has been the driving force behind everything we've achieved.

This year, we got to welcome new scaly and feathered friends into the rescue, found forever homes for so many amazing animals, and connected with an incredible community of animal lovers.
I went on the News, had our 3rd year at the pet expo, made a new rescue center and home for us and so much more.

To each and every one of you who donated, adopted, shared, and sent good vibes - THANK YOU. Your support means everything to us. It's the reason we've been able to help so many animals find their forever homes, and it's what keeps us going.

As we head into 2026, we're hoping for stability and routine, so we can keep doing what we love - saving animals and making time for what matters most. We're so grateful to have you all on this journey with us!

Thanks again for being part of our community, it truly makes all the difference. Here's to an amazing 2026!

MERRY CHRISTMAS
Hoping you all had an amazing Christmas!
I'm stoked to see so many animals find their forever homes and celebrate with their new families - it's truly the best Christmas gift!

The end of the year has been CRAZY for us and I know you guys get the chaos, so sorry for the lack of posts lately. We've had some awesome new additions to the rescue though! We've welcomed some cockatiels to the flock, rescue hens, Coral the disabled Maine C**n, and a gorgeous bearded dragon. Unfortunately, our beardie has a nasty leg infection, so he's booked in with the vet ASAP. He's got an amazing home lined up with a 2-time adopter, so fingers crossed for a speedy recovery!

We currently have 2 juvenile water dragons and 2 marine fish looking for forever homes. More birds are on the way, but vet bills are priority so we have to wait to micochip them.

Urgent rescue to save, treat, vaccinate, desex, and care for dumped injured rabbits, and find them good homes.

TURTLES FOR ADOPTION!

Our amazing friend over at North Shore Turtle, Reptile, Amphibian and fish Rescue need your help!
They are at max capacity and need to find some awesome homes for some turtles.
If you have ever thought about adding a shelled friend or 2 to your life nows the time!

It's with a very heavy heart that I have to let everyone know that we are closed to any incoming turtles for the foreseeable future. We are at capacity and desperately need to find homes for the gorgeous red ears we already have. If you're interested in rehoming a turtle please contact me, we have lots of smaller males suitable for tank homes and some gorgeous big females looking for a pond to call their own. Your pond must be escape proof as these guys are such Houdinis they will climb or scale a fence with ease. A lip at the top stops that though as they're unable to hold their weight upside down so it's an easy fix. Again, sorry but we are unable to take in any turtles at the moment.

A LITTLE UPDATE 🌞

Life's been a bit slow, but progress is progress, right? We've welcomed two new feathered friends to the rescue – a budgie and a lovebird (they're a bit flighty, so no decent pics yet 😂).

As the weather warms up, we're getting the reptiles' summer houses ready! Natural UVB and outdoor fun await. Zemo and George are already loving their new digs.

Huge congrats to Arlo on finding his forever home! His foster family adopted him, and he's absolutely thriving. He's one happy, relaxed skink – it's like he's a new lizard. Couldn't ask for a better outcome!

Light in the Darkness 🌟

Lately, life has been tough. Losing my beloved Phoenix, saying goodbye to a dear friend, and navigating personal struggles has taken a toll. As a rescue, it's hard to process grief when there's always someone needing care. It's a constant balance between feeling overwhelmed and keeping going – feeding, cleaning, and caring for those who depend on us.

But in these tough times, moments like these make all the difference. Seeing animals thrive in their new homes brings me joy. These two beautiful water dragons were adopted and spent their first night in their new enclosure, and it's absolutely perfect. Knowing I get to help animals find their forever homes with amazing people makes my heart happy. It's a reminder that even in the darkest times, there's still light and beauty to be found 💛

Goodbye, My Love 🦎💔

I'm heartbroken to share that we've said our final farewell to my beloved leopard gecko, Phoenix. I knew this day was coming, but it's no easier to accept. Phoenix was an old lady who'd endured a hard life, and I'm grateful I got to be her safe haven.

I'll never forget when I first saw her photo on Trade Me in 2019. She was stuck in a tub, neglected and alone, with no heat, UVB, or proper food. I was new to reptiles, but something about her tiny face made me realize I had to help. When she arrived, she needed urgent care – meds, eye drops, and love. She was a fighter, and her resilience inspired me.

Phoenix was my first reptile, and she taught me everything. I'll cherish the memories of her eating her first bug (I cried!) and her trust in me over the years. She helped me start Be Kind, and we've had six incredible years together. Phoenix was more than just a pet – she was my baby girl, my comfort companion, and my heart. Life won't be the same without her perfect smile and loving nature. I'm grateful for the time we had, and I hope she knows how much she meant to me 💔
