Your Friday "awwwwww" is here! This teeny-tiny cutie pie was born in a barn and adopted by Hayden, a VTC hospital concierge in Vancouver. (Lucky kitten!) Since then, he's gone through a few name changes from Atlas to Kyo and now Kenma, which means strong and healthy in Japanese. We think that suits him perfectly! As you can see, he has already stolen our hearts...and our laptop.

May is month so we need to shout out to Dr. Nicci Fisher who did an amazing job taking care of the sweetest 11-year-old kitty who presented for a pathological leg fracture due to osteosarcoma (a type of bone cancer.) We’re happy to report this handsome gray boy is making a fast recovery and after some rest, adjusting to life on three healthy legs. Thank you to the team in Smithfield, RI for all you do!

Did you know May is Pet Cancer Awareness Month? Every day, our veterinarians help to prevent and treat cancer in pets at our hospitals, so it's near to all of our hearts.

For the 14th year in a row, Petco Love and Blue Buffalo are investing in the fight against pet cancer. For every purchase of dry Blue Buffalo dog or cat food made via petco.com through May 28, Blue Buffalo will donate $1 to Petco Love, up to $75,000. We're so proud of this annual effort that’s raised $19M to further pet cancer research and support treatment for pets in need.

From now until May 28, we invite you to join the fight against pet cancer by donating in Petco and Unleashed by Petco stores or online, and by sharing knowledge about the early warning signs of pet cancer and how they fight pet cancer using the hashtag . Today is National Specially-abled Pets Day, a day to celebrate pets who have overcome the odds! We asked our team to share their extra-special pups with us. Tell us about your specially-abled pet in the comments.

1. Art director Ashley rescued Nico when he was almost two. He developed idiopathic epilepsy which is controlled with medication. She tells us "Nico has a spicy personality but loves to be cuddled. He will be seizure free one year in May!" Yay Nico!

2. Major is a 5 year-old Border Collie with idiopathic epilepsy. Cheryl, from our veterinary services team says, "Thanks to the amazing doctors at Vetco Total Care and a neurology specialist, Major's epilepsy is manageable, and we enjoy hiking together!"

3. Brienna, from our veterinary talent team, is mom to Arya, a 9-year-old pit bull. "Arya had a stroke that left her face paralyzed on one side. We call that her extra-beautiful side. She has adapted to her disability, and we love her slightly tilted zoomies!"

Meet Dr. Nicole Fisher, DVM at Vetco Total Care in Smithfield, RI, with her dog Clayton after a routine dental. "He likes to be snuggled when he's coming out of anesthesia because he's completely blind. Dr. Fisher held him until her next surgery, and then I held him until she was done," says Bri, our hospital manager. Caring for pets - and caring for each other's pets - is what a career with Vetco Total Care is all about.
