I'm Alix, and I live right outside of Richmond Virginia. Both of my daughters, Shelby and Olivia, love to assist with the kitten rescue and care for the kittens. They are such a big help. Shelby, my older daughter, is my right hand when I cannot be here or if I am away at work. She has trained and learned closely beside me about proper neonate care for the last 3 years. She wishes to continue kitt

en rescue when she is an adult and out on her own! I work a full time job and a part time job, in addition to kitten rescue. Alix's Fosters is not yet a non profit, but that is the long term goal. Because of this, we don't qualify for grants or large business donations, just the help of the community with purchase off of our amazon supply wish list or venmo, cash app and paypal donations.

SPICY SPICY SPICY 🌶️ NOT typically my thing but I wasn’t aware of this until I was on the way to pick up.
Jason called me about this one!! (My better half) So I went to pick up …The second I pulled into my driveway with the kitten they called back saying they found the sibling so - now I’m heading back. Baby is bigger than it looks - I’m thinking about 4 months.
The plan is to see if these guys are even a little bit sociable, but to get them in ASAP to be spayed and neutered with rabies vaccinations and they will not be with me long. This little one has already bitten twice from what I’ve told - my pregnant butt cannot risk that as my last cat bite earned me a hospital stay bc of the infection it caused.

Homes still needed 😍 These cuties took to the litter box on day one! Recently, they have mastered crunchy food, although we still spoil them with wet food as well their kitten milk at least once a day.
💕 These guys will get spayed and neutered on June 9th and will need a home! Our hope is to keep them together, but so far, no applicants! This brother and sister are a great team but we know sometimes that’s not possible (double adoptions) and we’re not against single adoptions.

They both have great personalities and love to run and play! The $140 adoption fee covers their spay and neuter, FVRCP vaccine, combo test testing as well as a microchip! They’re around 8 weeks 💙💗

💗 Mama is still out of work since the little hospital stay last week but gets to return next week on a modified schedule - my cardiologist is cutting my hours in half! Trying to keep that BP down!

Update on Heart of Hanover contest:
Being nominated for the Heart of Hanover award under nonprofit was a huge honor a second year in a row! Thanks to everyone who voted! ‼️They will announce top 3 soon, but I’m not anticipating we’ll make top 3. A hospital stay and continued issues since, made posting each day for “reminder to vote” posts at the bottom of my priority list for the last week. Lots tell us the rely on these reminders to get votes in 🫣 Sorry y’all!

I was discharged from the hospital and got home around lunchtime 🙏
❤️Shelby took over and was cleaning out the babies pen and replacing the pads and box as soon as she got home from school.
So incredibly grateful that both Shelby and Olivia are so helpful and involved with all these kittens we care for. 🐾🐾🥹

Hey guys - Alix here 💕
Still see a couple of trailing inquiries about taking in some newborn kittens… just wanted to update you guys that we are still closed to intake at this exact moment.

Been in the hospital since early yesterday morning. Will probably get out of here today. Blood pressures are what earned me a stay - cardio and OB have been teaming up trying everything and after a couple of increases of dosages and an added medication - they have it stabilized.
❤️ High blood pressure during pregnancy is unfortunately not new for me. My number one hope is that it does not end up taking this baby girl prematurely and that she remains healthy and active.

😂 Baby girl had me laughing yesterday:
They had an ultrasound team in my room just doing a quick check-in on her. I think it was mainly a chance for the several students to learn that were also in the room. The one lady was trying to get a heart rate on baby so she was moving the cursor to try to place it where baby girls heart was… EVERY single time she placed it… baby girl would move over or turn around the other direction… she did this to her about three times in a row 😂😂😂 One of them said “I’ve never see a baby this active !!!”
