Scientific Name Symphysodon aequifasciatus (hybrid variety)
Common Names Pigeon Blood Red Discus, Pigeon Red Discus
Origin Selectively bred in Asia (not found in the wild)
Size Up to 6–7 inches (13-15cm)
Coloration Bright red or orange body with white/cream pattern; no vertical stress bars
Temperament Peaceful but can be shy
Tank Size Minimum 50 gallons for a group
Water Conditions Temp: 82–86Β°F (28–30Β°C), pH: 7.0- 7.5 soft water preferred
Diet High-protein: beef heart, bloodworms, pellets, brine shrimp
Special Care Sensitive to water quality; needs frequent water changes

🧬 Special Notes
β€’ β€œPigeon Blood” strain was developed in the 1990s in Asia and has since been bred into many color variants like Pigeon Red, Pigeon Checkerboard, Pigeon Leopard, etc.
