🐾 STRAY HOLD – TACO 🐾

Do you recognize this tiny sweetheart?

Meet Taco, a female kitten approximately 1 month and 9 days old, who was found in Anna’s Retreat and brought to the Humane Society of St. Thomas on June 13, 2026.

A kind gentleman noticed Taco in his neighborhood and could see that she wasn’t feeling well. Concerned for her health and safety, he brought her to the Humane Society so she could receive the care she needed. When Taco needed a foster home to continue her recovery, this compassionate community member stepped up and opened his home to her.

As required by law, Taco is currently on stray hold while we search for any owner or information about where she may have come from.

If you recognize Taco or have any information about her, please contact the Humane Society of St. Thomas at 340-775-0599.

We are grateful for community members who go above and beyond to help animals in need. Thanks to one caring neighbor, Taco is safe, receiving treatment, and getting the love she deserves while she heals.

🐾 STRAY HOLD – ZORO & ZEKO 🐾

Do you recognize these two handsome little guys?

Meet Zoro and Zeko, two sweet male kittens approximately 2 months old who were brought to the Humane Society of St. Thomas on June 13, 2026. A kind community member found them alone without their mother and, concerned for their safety, brought them to us for care.

As required, we are posting them on stray hold while we search for any potential owner or information about where they may have come from.

💙 If you recognize Zoro and Zeko or have any information about them, please contact the Humane Society of St. Thomas at 340-775-0599.

We are currently overflowing with kittens during this busy kitten season and would love to find foster homes or adopters willing to open their hearts to these sweet boys. Every foster home helps us make room for the many kittens still arriving at our shelter.

📍 Come visit us at the Humane Society of St. Thomas and meet Zoro and Zeko. They may just be the newest members of your family!

Yesterday, we gathered as a family.

We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who came out to the Unleashed Lounge to celebrate and honor the life of our dear friend, James.

The loss of James has left a tremendous void in our hearts. At the Humane Society of St. Thomas, we are more than coworkers and volunteers—we are a small family. We celebrate together, support one another through challenges, and when one of us hurts, we all hurt.

On Sunday, surrounded by friends, volunteers, staff, and James’s loving family, we shared stories, laughter, tears, and memories. We enjoyed a meal together, comforted one another, and reflected on the incredible impact James had on so many lives.

Moments like these remind us how important it is to find a place where you can give your heart. Volunteering isn’t just about giving your time—it’s about building connections, creating community, and becoming part of something bigger than yourself. James embodied that spirit every day.

To James’s family, please know that you remain in our thoughts and prayers. Thank you for spending the afternoon with us and allowing us to share just a few of the many stories of how much James meant to all of us.

James, you are deeply missed, forever loved, and will always be a part of the Humane Society family. ❤️

🛍️ Just a Friendly Reminder from the Humane Society Thrift Store 🐾

Both the Humane Society of St. Thomas and the Humane Society Thrift Store are closed on Mondays.

Mondays are an important part of our week! While our doors may be closed, our team is hard at work behind the scenes deep cleaning, organizing, restocking shelves, caring for animals, and preparing everything for another busy week ahead.

This dedicated day allows us to keep both the shelter and thrift store clean, safe, and welcoming for our visitors, volunteers, shoppers, and of course, the animals in our care.

We’ll be back and ready to welcome you on Tuesday!

Thank you for your understanding and for continuing to support the Humane Society of St. Thomas and our Thrift Store. Every visit, donation, and purchase helps make a difference for homeless animals in our community. ❤️🐶🐱

See you Tuesday!

💦🐾 A Simple Bowl of Water Can Save a Life 🐾💦

As we enter the hottest days of summer here on St. Thomas, we would like to remind everyone how important it is to provide fresh, clean water for outdoor animals.

If you care for a community cat colony, feed strays, or simply notice animals passing through your yard, please consider placing a bowl of water outside. It may seem like a small gesture, but for an animal struggling to survive in the heat, that bowl of water could mean the difference between life and death.

Dehydration can happen quickly in our tropical climate and can lead to serious health issues, including heat exhaustion, heat stroke, and kidney damage.

If you are already feeding outdoor animals, please remember that food alone is not enough. Fresh water is one of the most basic necessities for survival.

Take a moment today to put out a bowl of clean water in a shaded area. It costs very little, takes only seconds, and could save a life.

Thank you for helping us care for the animals of St. Thomas. ❤️

🐾 HELP FEED OUR COMMUNITY CATS 🐾

Did you know that throughout St. Thomas, there are cat colonies that depend on caring community members for their daily meals?

These cats didn’t choose life on the streets, but together we can help make sure they have food, fresh water, and someone keeping an eye on their well-being.

💙 The good news? It doesn’t take a huge commitment.

Just one evening a week can make a life-changing difference for a colony of cats. Most feedings take only a short amount of time, and the Humane Society of St. Thomas provides the food and supplies.

🐱 Why is colony feeding so important?
• Helps prevent hunger and dehydration
• Allows us to monitor cats for illness or injury
• Supports healthier, more stable colonies
• Gives these animals a better quality of life
• Creates a network of caring people looking out for them

Many people don’t realize that community cats often have no one else to rely on. A volunteer stopping by regularly can mean the difference between a cat receiving help when needed or suffering unnoticed.

🌴 As our island enters the slower summer season, this is a wonderful opportunity to give back to the community that gives so much to all of us.

Whether you can help once a week or several times a week, we would love to have you join our colony feeding team.

📩 Interested in helping? Send us a message or contact the Humane Society of St. Thomas to learn more.

A small commitment truly makes a big difference. ❤️🐾

🐾 URGENT REHOMING NEEDED 🐾

Today we’re sharing a plea from a member of our St. Thomas community who is facing a heartbreaking situation.

An 8-year-old indoor cat is in need of a new loving home after her owner was hospitalized. Due to severe COPD, doctors have recommended that she rehome her beloved feline companion.

This sweet girl has been a loyal companion for many years and is described as an amazing cat. She is:
🐱 8 years old
🐱 Indoor-only
🐱 Good with other cats
🐱 A loving companion looking for a quiet, caring home

We know how difficult this decision is for her owner, who loves her dearly and wants nothing more than to ensure she is safe, loved, and cared for.

If you have room in your heart and home for a wonderful adult cat, or if you know of a rescue or foster who may be able to help, please reach out to the Humane Society of St. Thomas and we will help connect you.

Please share this post. Sometimes the perfect home is just one share away. ❤️

🐾 Species: Dog
🐾 Gender: Female
🎂 Approximate Age: 1 Year, 8 Months

Sandy was safely trapped and brought to the Humane Society by Les after reports of a stray dog in the area.

As required by law, Sandy will remain on stray hold while we attempt to locate her owner.

🐾 DOUBLE THE LOVE 🐾

Meet Amber and Ash, two sweet siblings who recently found themselves at the Humane Society of St. Thomas through no fault of their own.

Their owner was relocating and tried hard to find them a new home, but unfortunately was unsuccessful. Now these two beautiful cats are hoping someone will open their heart and give them the fresh start they deserve.

Amber and Ash are the definition of easygoing. They are calm, curious, and absolutely love to lounge around. Pick them up and they instantly melt into your arms like little noodles. They are friendly, affectionate, and accustomed to living indoors, making them wonderful companions for someone looking for a pair of relaxed feline friends.

The funny thing about these two is that they’re almost identical! Aside from one being male and one being female, the easiest way to tell them apart might just be their whiskers. They are both healthy, well-fed, and ready to settle into their next chapter.

Moving is hard. Losing your home is hard. But together, Amber and Ash have each other, and we would love nothing more than to see them find a family who will love them for the rest of their lives.

Could that family be yours?

To meet Amber and Ash, stop by the Humane Society of St. Thomas today. ❤️🐱🐱
