Happy Tail is a sweet name for a condition that occurs when a dog wags their tail to excess and creates a small wound that can snowball into needing critical medical intervention. The likelihood of needing veterinary care increases when a dog is in a confined space, like a kennel, resulting in rapid, repeated impact. Happy Tail can go from a small cut to an appointment with a vet in an incredibly short amount of time.
Daisy is a ball of love and excitement. Her joyful nature is undeniable and, unfortunately, led her to an extreme case of Happy Tail. It started as a small wound on the tip of her tail, which she nibbled to the point that her tail tip was barely hanging on. We were able to get her into Crossroads Animal Hospital, where she underwent surgery to dock her tail, preventing future occurrences.
