🚨Rabies Alert🚨
An unvaccinated outdoor cat tested positive for rabies at a farm in Mower county. The cat had contact with two people and several domestic animals.
🚩Rabies is 100% fatal once symptoms appear. Rabies is a preventable viral disease that attacks the central nervous system of mammals causing encephalopathy and death. The virus is transmitted through saliva from infected animals most often from bites.
Steps to Help Protect Your Pets and Family:
✅ Keep ALL animals up to date on rabies vaccines
(Rabies vaccines are available for dogs, cats, ferrets, horses, cattle, and sheep)
🔴 Do NOT approach unfamiliar or wild animals
🔴 Do NOT keep wild animals as pets
🔴 Do NOT leave children alone with animals
🔴 Do NOT attract wild or stray animals to your home or yard
