🚨 URGENT: Protect Hunting Dogs & Our Way of Life 🚨

Most people have no idea this is happening…

Anti-hunting groups have quietly slipped language into the Federal Farm Bill under the guise of targeting greyhound racing — but it goes far beyond that.

H. R. 5017: A BILL To amend the Animal Welfare Act to prohibit commercial greyhound racing, live lure training, and open field coursing, and for other purposes.

This language has the potential to criminalize the use of working dogs as we know it.

That means:
• Sight hounds
• Scent hounds
• Bird dogs/gundogs

ALL could be affected.

As someone who breeds and trains gundogs, this hits close to home. If this passes, we are no longer just talking about regulations; we are talking about the end of preserving and working these breeds the way they were meant to be.

Something as simple and standard as using a live pigeon to steady a young dog, a foundational training method, could be considered a FELONY.

Let that sink in.

This isn’t about “extreme cases.” This directly impacts responsible dog owners, trainers, hunters, and breeders who are committed to maintaining the purpose, drive, and integrity of these dogs.

And let’s be clear, even if this is being framed around greyhounds, that is THEIR heritage too. These dogs were bred to run, chase, and work. Banning that doesn’t just change a sport — it erases generations of purpose and history. 🐾

If we lose the ability to train and work them, we lose the breeds themselves.

Many people feed their families and pay their bills by training dogs.

Pay attention. Read the bill. Speak up. Contact your representatives.

Because once it’s gone, we won’t get it back.

EDIT: For those saying this is being blown out of proportion or “not true” — go read the bill. Sharing information isn’t blowing things out of proportion; it’s called awareness and education.

It explicitly states: (at the very top of the bill)

“To amend the Animal Welfare Act to prohibit commercial greyhound racing, live lure training, and open field coursing, and for other purposes.”

That language matters. Those terms are broad, and once something like this is passed at the federal level, it opens the door to much wider interpretation and enforcement.

Do your own research, but don’t ignore it. ⚠️

🚨 LITTER ANNOUNCEMENT 🚨

We are very proud to present to you our Tux x Ember litter!

We expect these pups to be incredible bird dogs and pets. Both Tux and Ember come from multiple generations of Champions and National Champions in UFTA, NSTRA, BDC, and AKC.

Tux’s pedigree is stacked on both sides with multiple time National Champions. He is out out of Rocky River’s Legacy of “Xena” who was the 2025 UFTA Amateur National Champion. Tux is a high drive dog with incredible natural retrieve. He is very cooperative and biddable in the field, and his intelligence is showcased by how quickly he picks up training. He has a great off switch around the house as well making him an all around great choice as sire for this litter.

Ember’s pedigree is also loaded with Champions and National Champions. Her dam was Cottle Branch Roxy’s Chocolate Chip, 2x UFTA Amateur Champion, 2x UFTA Open Champion, and 3x UFTA Doubles Champion. Roxy is one of, if not the best, pure bird finders I’ve ever seen. And Ember is a great bird finder in her own right, with exceptional cooperation, and couple that with her loving demeanor and it all adds up to make her an excellent choice for this breeding.

This litter is special in that it is the first time that Legacy lines have been crossed with Cottle Branch lines. That means that Xena, Roxy, and Slick are all tied into this litter with incredible dogs like Rawhide’s Clown, Crosswinds Fritz and Microchip, Chisholm Creeks Cuttin’ Loose and more only a few generations back.

Incredible genetics with these two! We believe the pups will be competitive in any bird dog games that you want to play. We expect them to be intelligent, with above average bird finding skills, and strong natural retrieve.

Lennie is a pup from our Lucille x Gus II litter. His granddad teaches a class at the local high school on how to care for small animals, so Lennie gets to be the teacher’s assistant. It looks like Lennie LOVES his job!

We traveled up to Star View Farms in Gretna, VA for the South East Championship Series qualifying trials this past weekend. Things lined up for us and we were able to have some success:

Bonnie and Jesse’s hospitality and hard work was much appreciated. Thank you to all the judges and bird planters. And we offer the upmost respect to all the dogs and handlers we were blessed to compete with.
