"To laugh often and love much: to win the respect of intelligent persons and the affection of children; to earn the approbation of honest citizens and endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty; to find the best in others; to give of one's self; to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition; to have played and laughed wit

h enthusiasm and sung with exultation; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived- this is to have succeeded."

🐾 In Honor of Aloka the Peace Dog - A Call to Compassion

Aloka the Peace Dog was once a stray who joined the venerable monks during their 110-day pilgrimage across India and Nepal. His journey from abandonment to becoming an “ambassador of peace” reminds us that every creature deserves love, care, and a chance at a peaceful life.

In honor of Aloka and his mission of peace, we warmly invite you to extend compassion to animals in need:

🐕 Visit your local animal shelter and consider adopting, fostering, or volunteering
🐾 Help animals in need in your community - whether stray, abandoned, or requiring medical care
💝 Make a donation to support shelters and rescue organizations
✨ Name your rescued friend “Aloka” or “Peace” as a living reminder that every act of kindness ripples outward into the world

When you rescue an animal and give them the name Aloka or Peace, you honor not just one dog’s journey, but the spirit of compassion that connects all beings. This is how Aloka continues to help his friends—by inspiring more hearts to open, more hands to extend kindness, more homes to welcome those in need.

Every animal saved, every act of mercy, every moment of care—this is peace in action.

If you rescue or help an animal in Aloka’s honor, we would love to hear your story. Please share it with us in the Walk for Peace - Official Community Facebook group or tag us in your posts. Let us celebrate together the growing circle of compassion that Aloka inspires.

May you and all beings be well, happy and at peace. 🙏✨

EDITED TO ADD: We just lost another dog to Lyme kidney disease 😢
Lyme disease has become very prevalent in our area. We have treated dozens of dogs just this year, and each year the infection rate increases dramatically. October and November are the months when we see the highest rate of tick activity. Please check your pets and yourself for ticks, and keep your dogs on flea/tick prevention all year round.

We also have vaccines for Lyme disease, so call us to make sure your pets are as protected as possible.

Our veterinarian will be undergoing major surgery soon that will require her to undergo extensive recovery at home with her family.

Therefore the clinic will have limited hours of operation beginning Monday March 24, 2025. The current plan is to be open from 9am to 12pm every weekday.

A staff member will be present each day to answer phone calls, respond to answering machine messages, and refill medications.

Messages will be returned within 24 hrs, and arrangements will be made as necessary to make sure all patients receive any meds needed, including preventatives. Make sure to contact us far enough in advance so that we can fulfill your requests.

We appreciate your cooperation and will update this page when any change in schedule occurs. Please note, the messenger apps of the clinic and doctor are not monitored and any questions should be directed to our phone (740) 453-4726

We had to say goodbye to one of our best buddies this week, our clinic cat Joey. He was one of the best cats I have ever had ( and that’s saying a lot!) He was shy, sweet, and loving. If there was somewhere that looked comfy, he would sit there. He had a soft gentle meow and would never cause a fuss. He always liked to eat, and appreciated being reminded how handsome he looked.

We love you, my JoJo bean, and you will be missed every day ♥️
