Nest box eye.
I never have issues with it, im usually diligent in checking twice a day to make sure eyes are okay and open.
This mama was a first timer and defensive (YOU stand up to a rabbit bigger than the neighborhood tomcats)
I checked them every day, but I somehow missed this little chestnut. (I was probably dodging an angry mama) I got everyone out to check genders and BOOM! This doe had developed nest box eye.
Of course I know how to treat this, so I gave her some antibiotics (and probiotics) cleaned the eye well, and repeated every 12 hours. The first pictures is her after the eye had been treated for 3 days, the second is today 7 days into treatment. This doe will have full vision because I was prepared.
This is why it's important as breeders to know everything we can. To treat our rabbits for everything we can. To prevent as much as possible. To keep our herds healthy. Because if I hadn't known what I was doing this sweet girl would have been blind in that eye. Because it could have been worse. Because more serious things happen too. And they result in innocent animals suffering, because someone didn't take the time to care enough.
