Don't forget to mark your calendars for the Skills Event (8-10 a.m.) at Saddles of Joy. It will take place on each Saturday in Sept and is mandatory if you want to work with the horses during Play Days and off-site events. This is a safety issue we need to be very aware of in order to keep everyone safe.

We really do appreciate all you do for Saddles and want everyone to have a good time.

Exciting News & A Special Opportunity to Help Saddles of Joy Grow!

Saddles of Joy has been proud to serve our community for years—bringing the healing power of horses and donkeys to children, veterans, and families in need. Our mission has always been to create a safe and welcoming space for both our animals and our visitors.

Now, we’re taking the next big step!

To give our animals the safest, most comfortable home possible, we are looking for 10 acres of irrigated land on the south mesa. This location will provide high, dry ground—perfect for year-round activities, worry-free grazing, and continued growth of our programs.

This is a chance for a generous individual or family to make a lasting impact. A land donation not only ensures the future of Saddles of Joy, but it also comes with a valuable tax deduction for the donor. Most importantly, it creates a safe, beautiful home for the animals and the people whose lives they touch.

If you have, or know of, 10 acres of irrigated land on the south mesa, we would love to talk with you.

Contact Saddles of Joy, Inc. at (928) 287-1148 to be part of this exciting new chapter. Together, we can build a secure future—where every hoofbeat echoes on solid ground, and the joy of Saddles of Joy continues for generations.

With gratitude,

Jamie Hadley

Throughout the year, the well-being of our cherished animals, and the comfort of our visitors remain at the heart of Saddles Of Joy‘s mission. However, the arrival of the rainy season brings a unique set of challenges to our current location. The once dependable river bottom, with its slush, grasses and tranquil surroundings, transforms into a flood plane with each heavy downpour, putting both our animals and facility at risk for flooding.
Each year, staff and volunteers brace themselves for the unpredictable storms that test our resolve and our resources. Makeshift barriers are erected, evacuation plans are rehearsed, and watchful eyes scanned disguise for the signs of impending rain. Despite our best efforts nature's power often overwhelms our preparations, and the safety of our beloved horses, donkeys, and other animals becomes a race against the rising waters.
In preparation for the monsoons, Saddles Of Joy is seeking 10 acres of irrigated land up on the north Mesa. Currently, we are located on the river bottom of what was the Colorado river flood plane at one time.
It has become clear that our cherished sanctuary once a haven amid gentle seasons, now faces an uncertain future each time the storm clouds gather. The relentless advance of water forces us to consider new possibilities and search for a safer home, one where our animals can graze and play without fear of the floods. We dream of a place where Saddles Of Joy might continue its work , undisturbed by nature’s tempests— where every hoofbeat echoes on solid ground, and the laughter of visitors mingles with the whisper of grasses.
If you have or know of someone who has 10 acres of irrigated land on the south mesa that they would be willing to donate for a nice tax deduction, please have them reach out to Saddles of Joy Inc. at 928-287-1148
