Dusty and Petrie are getting in the holiday spirit!
The holidays aren’t a happy time for animals in the food system, but at sanctuary, they are!

Little Rusty got adopted!!!
There are so many amazing roosters looking for homes. If you are zoned, consider taking a chance on one, and saving a life. Shelters and rescues are full, and we get calls asking us to take in roosters daily. Roosters are such a valuable member of the flock, they prevent the ladies from fighting, make sure everyone is in the coop at night, warn about predators, etc. Every flock should have a rooster, and we will always help as many as we can.
As a space opens, it's immediately filled. We just got done cleaning out the quarantine coop, and a new rooster will be here within the hour. 😅

A couple days ago came over and met turkeys for the very first time. He immediately fell in love with Sarah (the feelings were mutual), and swore he would never eat turkey again.

Because of interactions like this, more and more people now see turkeys for who they really are – loving, intelligent, social beings who deserve a life filled with safety and care.

Today we celebrate compassion, but we also mourn the millions of turkeys, just like Sarah, that lost their lives.

Sarah was picked up as a stray a few months ago. The sad truth is that she was likely supposed to be on someone's table this holiday season. We are so thankful that she is safe here with us, and the rest of her life will be filled with the love she deserves.

More than 46 million turkeys are killed every year in the U.S. for Thanksgiving alone.

Meet Giselle, the "aggressive" goat! 🤦🏼‍♀️
So many people are fearful of things they are unfamiliar with and don't understand. After getting Giselle situated at the sanctuary, I started walking away. I heard her charge up behind me, and when I turned around, she was stanced similar to a dog right before the zoomies (iykyk). Butt in the air and slightly crouched in the front, head low. I immediately knew she was playing, so I stepped towards her, and she took off! Doing the cutest little hops, swinging her head around, and then stopping right in front of me. Who knows how long she's been alone, and then with people that were scared of her. She was so excited to have room to run, and a potential friend. I can only imagine that behaviors like this are what was mistaken as aggression.

Thank you for bringing her to our attention!
