🌞☀️🐶Summer is here, and that means it's more important than ever to keep your furry family members safe in the heat. Did you know that it's illegal in California to leave your dog in a hot car? Hundreds of pets die each year from being left in hot cars. In just 10 minutes, the temperature inside a car can increase by 20 degrees Fahrenheit, and cracking the windows does little to prevent heatstroke. Dogs are particularly vulnerable to heatstroke, which can cause brain damage, organ failure, and even death. Signs of heatstroke include excessive panting, vomiting, and lethargy. Please do not leave your dogs in hot cars, even if you crack the windows. Let's keep our furry friends safe and healthy this summer!🐾

Hey everyone! 🐾☀️ It's that time of year again where we need to be extra cautious about the ground that our pets walk on. As the weather gets warmer, some surfaces can get really hot and cause burns on our furry friends' paws. Not only that, but sharp objects, broken glass, and other hazards can be hidden in the grass or on the sidewalks. Here are a few tips to keep your pets safe this summer:

1. Check the ground before you go out for a walk. If it's too hot for your hand, it's too hot for your pet's paws. 🔍🔥
2. If the pavement is too hot, consider walking your dog at a later time when it cools down. 🌅🌃
3. Keep your pet on the grass or in the shade as much as possible. 🌳🌿
4. Consider getting your pet booties or paw wax to protect their paws. 👟
5. Always carry a water bottle and a collapsible bowl to keep your pet hydrated. 🐶🐱💧

Remember, we want to keep our pets happy and healthy all year round! 😊🐾

Hey everyone! 🐾 We want to remind all dog owners out there that it's important to keep your furry friends on a leash when you're out in public. You never know how other dogs will react or how your dog will react. Unfortunately, one of the dogs we take on walks got attacked this morning by another dog that was off leash. While he's okay, he has some wounds. It's important to remember that dogs can be unpredictable, and keeping them on a leash is the best way to keep everyone safe. So please, keep your dogs on a leash! 🙏

Adult dogs need a minimum of 30 minutes of exercise each day. 🐶Puppies need physical activity multiple times a day. Walking your dog and making sure your dog gets enough physical activity helps reduce anxiety related behavior, helps your dog focus better, provides good mental stimulation, and keeps them fit. Keeping your dog active may reduce obesity and behavioral issues and may reduce the onset of arthritis. Nearly all dogs love walks, but many owners may not have the time, energy, or physical ability to take their pet on a walk. We can help you with that at Dodd's Pet Care!
