Silicone slow feeders are having a moment and honestly, I get it - itās an upgrade from plastic - BPA-free, more durable, no microplastics.
And yes, itās cheaper and easier to manufacture in a variety of fun shapes. But it comes at a cost.
āMade from sandā doesnāt mean natural. The making of silicone requires smelting quartz at 1,500°C+, then reacting it with methyl chloride (usually made from natural gas or petroleum) to build the polymer.
