Hey there, I’m Arlo!

I know we just met, but I’ve got a good feeling about you.

So here’s the deal: I’m a middle aged, energetic pup with a big heart and an even bigger personality. I came here with a bunch of other pups from a hoarding situation, so I’ve been around dogs and I’m dog-testable! Whether you’re looking for a solo sidekick or a new buddy for your current pup, I might just be the perfect fit. I’ve got the kind of spirit that’s hard to ignore—smart, playful, and always curious about the world around me.

I love to play, explore, and show off how clever I am (seriously, I pick things up fast—especially if you’ve got snacks). I’d thrive in a home that can keep my brain and body busy, and in return, I’ll be your most loyal adventure partner, snuggle buddy, and best friend.

Right now, I’m waiting at the shelter, dreaming about what life could be like with a family of my own. Someone patient, fun, and ready for a little adventure. If you’ve got love to give (and maybe a toy or two), I promise I’ll give you everything I’ve got right back.

A Huge Thank You to Parole Authority!

Yesterday, our friends at Parole Authority spoiled our whole staff with a Chick-fil-A lunch, and wow, did it brighten our day!

From the tea and lemonade to sooo many nuggets with all the yummy sauces, and lots of cookies! (Maybe a pup or three sneaking a nugget… shhh 🤫), it was such a thoughtful treat!

Our staff has been working around the clock! Fundraising, fostering, adopting, and caring for 210+ animals. Burnout is real, but this gesture truly lifted spirits and reminded everyone how much they’re appreciated.

Hi! I’m Lola — and I’m currently accepting applications for my forever family.

A little about me: I’m on the curvier side (more to love, obviously), but don’t let that fool you. I love to play, zoom around the yard, and get my energy out. I’ve got a fun side for sure, but I’m also a big fan of naps, cuddles, and claiming the comfiest spot on the couch. Balance is important.

Now, I do have one small request: I’d really like to be the only pet in the home. I’m kind of a “center of attention” type of girl. I promise I’ll make it worth your while — I’ve got plenty of love (and hilarious personality) to go around.

I’m also looking for a special kind of adopter — someone who understands that I need a little time to get comfortable before heading home. I warm up best with slow introductions, a little patience, and some tasty treats never hurt either. Once I know I can trust you, I’ll be your most loyal (and hilarious) companion.

So if you’re looking for a lovable, goofy, nap-loving best friend who will happily be your one and only, I’m your girl. Let’s meet soon — I have a good feeling about us.

We are so grateful to Lee Eye Center in Boardman for hosting such a wonderful adoption event for our animals!

They went above and beyond by providing water, delicious cookies for both humans and pups, thoughtful donations, and most importantly, so much love and attention. Their staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming, and our animals absolutely adored them!

A huge thank you as well to everyone who stopped by! Our animals had the best time getting out of the shelter, making new friends, and soaking up all the love.

We truly can’t thank Lee Eye Center enough for supporting our mission and helping our animals shine. 🤍

Menace is all ready for his close up on WFMJ! Stay tuned to catch him on the news this week! 🎥

We are beyond grateful for the incredible generosity shown to our shelter. Every donation truly makes a difference in the lives of our animals and helps us continue the work we do every single day.

•Sam’s Club – For the much-needed paper towels, bleach, dog food, cat food, and cleaning items.

•Amazon – For keeping our staff fueled with drinks, cleaning supplies, and so many other helpful items.

•Sheely’s – For the huge, soft cushions that give our animals a cozy place to rest and feel at home.

Today, our humane agents responded to multiple cases.

*Macho
Humane agents also responded to a call regarding a condemned, red-tagged home. Inside, they discovered Macho abandoned in deplorable conditions. He had been left in a filthy cage without food or water and was suffering from urine burns on his legs.
📍4th Ward, West Side of Youngstown

*Poncho
Poncho came into our care after his owner was arrested. The owner and Poncho were living in a bus in the woods in Youngstown. With no one available to care for him, our humane agents stepped in to ensure his safety and well being. During the situation, and in the middle of everything, Poncho was also pepper sprayed.
📍2nd Ward, East Side of Youngstown

*Tammy
Humane agents also took in a cat who is believed to have been hit by a car. Now named Tammy, she is safe and receiving extensive medical care along with the compassion and attention she needs.
📍 7th Ward, South Side of Youngstown

Although these situations were very different, Poncho, Macho, and Tammy are now all safe at Animal Charity of Ohio. Each is receiving medical treatment, proper nutrition, and dedicated care from our team.

Hi! I’m Niko! Just here at Animal Charity checking in on things—quality control, if you will. First, I stopped by to pet this doggo. Yup, she pets well! Her name is Bobbie-Sue. Guess what? She is older than me!

Then I was given a walkie-talkie to report any findings. This nice blonde lady walked me back to see some kittens. I took that very seriously. But as you can tell, all checked out okay with Sparky! The blonde lady told me all about Animal Charity. They are doing amazing work and saving lives.

Next, I checked on the rats! I thought they would be scary, but nope—they are cute and even took treats right from me. All checking out okay so far!

Then I checked on Menace, the grey-and-white pup. I liked him! He came in with 14 other dog friends! And finally, this is just me checking the big cat room. I can report all was gooood!

I was happy to do my job today, just like this crew is happy to save lives every day! You should double your impact and donate today in my honor. It would mean a lot after all my hard work today too!

The Marlowe-Kennedy Community Pantry

In July alone, Animal Charity of Ohio provided an estimated 800 lbs of dry pet food and 300 cans to help families keep their beloved pets fed and healthy.

Our goal is simple: keep pets in loving homes by supporting the people who care for them. The Marlowe-Kennedy Community Pantry offers free monthly pet food pickups to residents of Mahoning, Trumbull, and Columbiana Counties—because no pet should go to bed hungry.

We know hard times can happen to anyone—and pets are family. By keeping their bowls full, we help keep tails wagging, hearts happy, and families together.

We couldn’t do this without the kindness of our community. Every donation, big or small, makes a difference - and every pound of food given is a direct act of love. From the bottom of our hearts and paws - thank you. ❤️

Urgent Need for Supplies! Please share!

Right now, our shelves are running low on some of the most important supplies our animals rely on every single day. From food to cleaning essentials, these are things we simply can’t go without.

If you’ve been thinking about helping, now is the perfect time—your support will make an immediate difference for the animals in our care. Every donation, big or small, helps us stay ready for the next wagging tail that walks through our doors.
