Stella has been waiting. Not loudly. Not desperately. Just patiently, with a soft tail wag and a hopeful heart.

She arrived with us more than two years ago as a devoted mama, lovingly raising her puppies and seeing them off to their forever homes. Now it’s finally Stella’s turn to be cherished, spoiled, and called someone’s “good girl.”

Stella is a 7-year-old chocolate Lab mix, about 65 pounds of steady love and quiet loyalty. She doesn’t ask for much. Just your company. A lawn chair in the sunshine. A cozy spot on the couch. A leisurely stroll through the farmers market. Maybe a Home Depot run, because every outing is better together.

She’s calm, affectionate, and so ready for a life where her biggest responsibility is being loved. Stella has waited far too long for her person, and we know the right heart will see her and say, “There you are.”

* Pupdate: Nigel has a foster and is now safe! *

**No interest for Nigel. He's on the euthanasia list and has just a few days. We can only rescue him if he has a home to go to. Please take a moment to read about this good boy and share his post!**

Nigel was picked up as a stray, and like so many strays in rural Alabama, he was brought to a facility where his time is limited. Even though he's a very sweet boy anyone would be lucky to have, no one came for him. AHF would love to rescue him, but he needs a home to go to. Can you help?

Nigel is around 2 years old and weighs about 45 lbs. We don't know his breed mix, but he's a handsome one and may have some hound in him. Nigel is a calm, laid-back kind of guy, which we know many people desire in a canine companion. He's friendly with other dogs even when there's food around (and the way his hip bones jut out, you can tell he hasn't been getting enough food). He walks nicely on a leash. Cat compatibility is unknown.

We wish we had better pictures to share, but with some shelters, you get what you get and have to hope someone can see the special, deserving dog in the photos even if they're not Insta-worthy.
