Most people don’t choose the animal hiding in a corner over the one thats in their face for cuddles. However, I’ve seen first hand, that the animal cowering can quickly become the animal that won’t leave your side. All they need is to be shown the compassion they’ve never known. My name is Jordan. I have five dogs myself. Three “Pit” mixes, an Australian Cattle Dog, and a Chihuahua. I also have a mini farm with a pig that swears she’s a dog, six pygmy goats, a donkey, and chickens. I started training in 2012 at Petco. In 2014, I started my own business, Friend of Fido. Now, I am taking the steps to pursue what I’ve always wanted. Becoming an official rescue. I have a great deal of experience working with rescues. I’ve found they often come with similar issues. Separation anxiety, lack of potty training, poor social skills, food aggression, etc. These issues keep them from finding a home, and regrettably result in them not working out in their new homes. I have yet to meet a dog that is “unfixable”. All we need to do, is care enough to take the time to train! It will be more than worth it. I think we all know not much compares to the unconditional love of a dog, and that love only doubles with a rescue. I train using positive reinforcement. It has been proven to be the best method of training. The key is to praise your dog for the correct behavior, rather than scold them for doing something wrong. Training this way forms a strong bond between you and your dog, and creates a well trained companion. I am always furthering my knowledge, and keeping up with any new training techniques.
